GLB [Renders] 2019 Mercedes GLB


The Mercedes-Benz GLB (model code X247) is a crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC in size, however unlike these vehicles the GLB is equipped with optional third row seating due to better space distribution.
Interesting vehicle indeed this GLB seems to try and combine everything in one in a much more affordable package. Space, high driving position, excellent visibility through the large upright greenhouse, usability with 3rd ROW space for a close to 6ft man and 4WD security and stability. Then the styling may seem more macho than the average SUV as well.
 
Whos this guy? Why is he getting to drive most of Merc in testing stage like these prototypes? Checking his channel its not so viewed or have enough subscribers like some Vloggers like. May my bad knwoledge but I don’t whos he is.

The GLB will easily become the volume leader in the US for vehicles built on that platform.
The new A is a bit of a dud here.
 
The A is too expensive for what you get. The new CLA will easily outsell it. At this point there isn't a need for both. Now if sedans were red-hot again, I could see it, but Mercedes only needs the CLA as their entry level sedan in the U.S. IMO. An A220 for 40K is ridiculous, wait and get the new CLA250. I'm curious to see where they will price the A35 and CLA35.

Yes, I'm waiting for May sales. March and April U.S. were none too impressive at 890 and 804 units, respectively.

The interior space of this car begs the question whether the next GLC should be FWD. How many female drivers, mothers specially, care more about whether their AWD is rear wheel biased than interior room?
 
Hmm profit margins right?
Until now glc was on c class platform.
I mean you want the glc to be on different platform than C class or the next c class to be FWD?
I think will upset a lot of customers

Specifically, the S version of the M 139 makes 416 hp at 6,750 rpm and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque between 5,000 and 5,250 revs. The redline hits at 7,200 rpm.

There's also a standard variant of the M 139 that produces 382 hp (285 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) between 4,750 and 5,000 rpm. The redline is the same 7,200 revs.

Both versions of the M 139 use a twin-scroll turbocharger. The S variant can produce up to 30.5 psi (2.1 bar) of boost, but the standard model goes to 27.6 psi (1.9 bar).

It is amazing that this 2.0 inline 4 produces the same power (285kw) and nearly the same torque (500nm compared to 530nm) as the 5.4ltr 32valve NA V8 that was previously available in the W221 and W211 S500 and E500 models. That shows the incredible progress in turbo engines in the last 15years.
 
And the hi-po version make more hp than the 6.0L V12 in the W140 S600. Amazing.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I read the output was more than 300kW, which was what the 600SEL was launched at back in 1991. Still more torque for the old V12 though. ;)

Those poor pistons in the new engine!
