Yes! This is infuriating. They are peddaling this as an all new car; but truth be told; it’s a moderately massaged platform from 2011. Sad! The biggest giveaways are the side profile and the interior which seems to be exactly the same as the cat from 2011.

Oh no, the platform is not from 2011 but from 2005, this car was already old when VW started the production in the USA

Well let's be realistic here. The car is good for the NAFTA market. The USP of that Passat was space. So VW engineered a spacious, cheap lassta for the USA. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. In the end, money talks.

I think that the USA is the most sophisticated market and offering the newest and the best technology is of vital importance. When the European Passat shifted to the MQB platform there was no price increase, which should mean that it is not more expensive but for sure it's much quieter, lighter and better in every possible way. They already made a mistake with it in the US at the beginning, expecting to sell three times more then they did and they are making the same mistake again underestimating the preferences of the customers.

I think that in that class in America technology, platform, excellency in product is not very demanded. The competition of the Passat over there is the Camry, Accord, Malibu, Sonata, Mazda 6, Altima...not the cars that stand for extreme product integrity.

It's a more luxurious Skoda Superb.
