3 Series (E90) Spy photos: E92 Coupe / E93 Convertible Facelift

The fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model codes E90 (saloon), E91 (estate, marketed as 'Touring'), E92 (coupé) and E93 (convertible). The model was produced by BMW until October 2013 and is often collectively referred to as the E90, E9x, or occasionally, the E92.
The CF roof is not standard equipment on the E92 M3 in all markets.

Yes it is. There is a no-cost option to have a sunroof.

Besides, all these test cars get destroyed anyway, so BMW is probably trying to keep losses at a minimum by testing without the CF roof.

It would probably be cheaper to build a car with CFRP or the sunroof option than to build a few cars with neither.

Besides which, I doubt very much they would go through the same procedures for a facelift as they do for a brand-new model, i.e. destroying the mules.

These cars are used up until launch and then they are crushed.

The M3 Coupe is available with a sunroof in lieu of a Carbon Fibre reinforced roof, The largest quantity of owners have mainly been in the US. With European and other markets preferring the Carbon Fibre Roof option.

This all goes back to the 2007 Pre-launch of the M3 Coupe. I believe there were some dismissing of my statement of the car having a Carbon Fibre Roof. But remember BMW also use a trick in the form of an adhesive that looks like the actual roof but disguises the Carbon Fibre except for an area which to the distant photographer looks as if there is a sunroof.

Are those LED Angel Eyes?

I think they are. What concerns me is BMWs slow reaction to interior LED lights. If I'm not mistaken all BMW models except new 5 er use bulbs.

Looks like they are LED angel eyes, but red one doesn't have them... I hope this won't be extra equipment ? :)

Damn, nice. If those are white LED halo lights, then that is awesome. It will stand out even more now.

I say they are, even though Eni said the 3er coupé LCI wouldn't have them. He was wrong on that point, since it's quite obvious those are powered by LED tech.

Braaf, what do you mean with interior LED lights? The ambient lighting?

Oh god, I hope not. Shit like this should b standard cuz it's a part of the image. Might as well charge for the freakin grill and badges too.

Well, the CELIS lights are still LED, just a different tech. I just hope these are white so they stand out and look more updated than the yellow angel eyes. LOL

But the Vermillion Red E92 in the back has corona rings, just not made of LED tech..Those Angel eyes have been standard on the E92 since day one.

Not LED I believe. Only the 5er and 5er GT have that. I think all the other corona rings have regular light bulbs conducted through the plastic rings.

Speaking of engines, the LCI brings a new version of the 320d with 184PS and the 323i with 190PS. Both are available for all models including the E90 and the E91. Maybe there's also a 318i for the Coupe.

ISn't there already a Performance 20d with something like 197 hp?? F10 has this 184 hp 20d engine too right?

That's right. The 20d for the F10 will be available from Q3 2010 on, maybe the release in the E9x is earlier.

If I see that correctly, it's the inline 6 as used in the Z4 sDrive 23i, but with less output. Displacement is 2497 ccm, so I'd rule out an inline 4.

and thats the engine I wanted for my babybimmer but it didnt exist back then when I bought the car :(
