C-Class W206 [Spy Shots] 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 spied pics & info thread

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Agreed and let’s remember that the first compact 4 door saloon (W201 aka 190) initially had 4 cylinder engines only. Only later on (1985) the 190 2.6 was introduced. I for one wouldn’t have minded a 190E 2.3-16...

Am aware that the bulk is and will be 4 cylinder. It’s just a pity that there is no version left for enthousiasts. Well, at least there is still M340i.

I do not get Mercedes designers obsession towards these inverted grills. It makes the car look sad and ugly! Are they going through some design crisis or what? Great proportions otherwise.

I am very old school) Carbon = sport. 4cyl ≠ sport. Easy)

Well, that’s quite limited. The original Lotis Esprit and Elise, E30 M3, 190E 2.3-16, and others in history have proven a 4 cylinder engine and sportiness aren’t mutually exclusive.

Now, this C63 will definitely test modern expectations. That hybrid powertrain better be tuned perfectly.

I don't see why people keep pointing this out, it makes no sense. Yes the 190E had 4-cylinder but it also became available with a I6 a few years later, this car won't ever have one let Mercedes tell it. Not sure what that relevance is when the 190E had a I6.

I don’t see the relevance of the 190e argument, but I also don’t understand all the complaining of the 4 cylinders. This is the inevitable future. These will be the last ICE C class generation. Car manufacturers have to meet the environmental standards... this is what they have to do...

Or do it correctly, like Porsche have done, selling enough EVs to compensate for the more powerful ICE cars and thus being able to offer a 9 000 rpm, naturally aspirated 6 cylinder boxer in the 911 GT3.

And that is why MB is too late to the party to have the C-class benefit from electrification of the rest of the line-up. With having no 6 cylinder anymore you just might as well move to BEV directly.

I prefer to remember 6cyl 2.0, 2.2, 2.3 litre engines by BMW and Mercedes. And I prefer to think about 3.9 litre V12 in Gordon Murray t50.

The W206 interior definitely looks more expensive compared to the W205, even though the steps taken in the redesign are evolutionary.
The attention to detail looks really good. I did not think I would like it as much from the "bare- bones" spy shots some were complaining about. (another reason not to judge before a car breaks cover!)
The door panels also look good IMO. I personally do not care about wood panels in the doors.
In the case of the C, this is a minimalists design approach. Minimalism is the new design theme.

I am really curious how much will the price bump gets with W206....
I was just about to say the same thing, the W223 price increase is around 50k $ over the W222, not sure why but the jump in price is high. Not sure if the W206 will be as expensive as an E class ? then it will lose its competitive advantage.

Regardless, wonderful interior, and I don't dig the exterior design.

Let's also remember this new C is just around as big as an S class of that time.
I have ample experience with the G20 330i, and while not lacking anything, it definitely is no inline 6. Which I vastly prefer. Quite frankly, a 4 pot doesn't belong in a luxury car at all.

Interior looks really impressive, possibly best in class. Looking forward to the electric version.

It's exactly like the F30 vs W205 imo. It's personal preference mostly. The BMW is straightforward and businesslike, this new W206 is more like a lounge. I have to get used to it after just seeing it now for the first time, but it does look rather nice. Little awkward maybe, but nice nevertheless.

what do you mean an 50k $ in price increase? in EU we got around 6k euro increased...the W222 started from 97k euro, and now the W223 is starting from 103k euro
50k$ increase is too massive....or maybe i didnt understood what you wanted to say
