CLA [Spy Shots] 2024 Mercedes MMA model (CLA) first pictures

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.

I'm actually super curious to know if that's a screw. That would be utterly bizarre to have one random screw exposed in the entire interior. I'm hoping when more pics come out we can look at that more clearly. That looks like an ambient light senor or climate sensor more than anything to me.

Looks like they simply forgot to turn off the flash of the camera.

For outdated, die-hard car fans who still frequent internet forums about cars… this thing is a mess. The dowdy front end has the persona of a depressed pensioner and the interior is the MBodiment of kitsch. What tasteless design.

And yet…
It’s not aesthetically challenged enough to be off-putting. Nouveau riche buyers who don’t recognise the premium drivetrain concept in cars like the C-Class will flock in droves to have one of these.

That Volvo interior is streets ahead in terms of aesthetic appeal and classiness. The CLA's dash looks like someone mounted a snowboard on its side and stuck some screens on it. Not attractive in anyway.
Its slab faced front is more like a commercial vehicle.

I have no problems with the facia, the greenhouse, the rear end or the interior. My problem is with that "tricycle effect" that robs the car of the element of the exterior design dynamic and athletic flow that it needs. I'm skeptical as to whether 20" or even 21" rims could correct this. The illusory resculpturing of the rear wheelarch sheetmetal along with a higher degree of congruency between the front and rear wheelarch openings maybe could. But of course, that is not going to happen. Prototypes indicate that the MB.EA C-Class sedan will present a far more attractive, far more balanced solution.
