X7 [Spy shots] G67 BMW X7

The BMW X7 is a full-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle manufactured by BMW. It is BMW's largest and second most expensive SUV in its line-up. The X7 was first announced by BMW in March 2014. It was officially unveiled on October 17, 2018, with pre-orders being taken online. The X7 has been available at dealers since March 2019.
The interior is going to be the important part here. Let's hope they don't fit it with an X5 interior again. That's all I want.
I think there's will be cost cutting. The current X7 was a new kid on the block, and therefore BMW overspecced it attract new customers. It has many luxury touches and nices to haves that the core customer who just want a big 3 row SUV might not care about and therefore can be removed. This is the very reason why I'm considering the pre-facelifted X7. Almost all units highly specced and better equipped than a GLS or Q7.

It's exactly an X5. Overspecced in what way? An extra patch of leather here and there over an X5 interior?

It is the best 3-row SUV from the Germans imo. As an overall package it’s brilliant. GLS comes close second, and Q7 is not even in the same league with them. We will see how the Q9 will turn out. Looks like it’s just a longer Q7 in the spy shots, with no significant changes in design.

It will probably get the ubiquitous iDrive X layout to be introduced within the Neue-Klasse with full panoramic display.

The X7 has lots of small luxury touches that Mercedes only offer on the GLS Maybach or doesn't offer at all. It will be interesting to see whether BMW promotes the new X7 as a luxury flagship or just an X5 with more space.

-Head rest pillow on second row
-Climate zone for third row
-Individually controlled pan row for 3rd row
-Executive seating option with arm rests
-HDMI port for rear seat entertainment
-Video via USB support for 3rd row
-Contrast leatheron the sides of third row
-Premium pockets on the back of 1st row seats

Yes, the most elegant solution would be to remove the grille like Volvo has done with its EV cars, but the BMW grille is part of it’s identity, besides the fact that many of their customers wants a big show-off grille.

In general they are not able to make a sketch without the grille, even though it translates IRL into a nightmarish cheap plastic panel with tacky patterns.

It’s silly. Especially on the case of MB, where they could really remove that stupid piece of cheap plastic and just add a chrone line across the star like on the old Benzes. And that’s it.

BMW has it more difficult, but that’s why I prefer the NK 3er over the iX3 look.

Exactly.
I had the opportunity to test drive both.

There’s one reason to get the GLS instead of the X7, and that’s the E-ABC suspension which is a masterpiece. In the 580 you’ve got also the M177 V8.

Without E-ABC, the X7 is way ahead compared to the GLS, which in that case drives like drunken seamen.

It‘s a pity, that in the LCI the quality of the interior has been reduced significantly, pre LCI is the way to go.

Also I prefer the N63 to the S68 regarding the engine noise, the latter has the M5 header which changes the engine note significantly.

It’s the pre-facelifted that I’m considering because of physical switch gear. I also find the its face prettier than the LCI unless you want full visual aggression.

You can plug a chromecast stick or Apple TV into the hdmi port And watch that on the screens. Handy for kicking back and relaxing whilst stationary. Just use your phone or the car as the WiFi hotspot. Heated steering wheel, heated steering wheels + privacy blinds - many examples are highly equipped. IMO, given the cost cutting era we are in, the pre-LCI is a gem.

It still is an X5 with a third row. This all doesn't cut it by a long shot.

X7 has more second row leg room, second row seats are adjustable (x5 don’t adjust) air suspension is standard, you can get full leather and bowers on the 40i. In the x5 you have to get the m60 for bowers and X5m for full leather. Having owned both, The x7 is more comfortable and luxurious
