X5 [Spy Shots] Next Gen BMW X5 (G65) and iX5 - coming in 2027?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

Looks sooo good. Dare I say better than the iX3.
Ooh!😮

I think the iX3 is extremely good, and the CLAR based new X5 will have a hard time following the NK platform.

Still @Uygar did an excellent job on the new one compared to the old one, and I have to say the NK front makes the car look a whole lot more modern and fresh.
But compared to an iX3?? We'll see. I hope it will be even better but I am not so sure still.

I think it already looks like a winner. BMW doesn’t mess with X5 imo. Every single generation looked awesome.

Third gen wasn't hot IMO.
And really when you think about it, the third gen (F15) was a facelift of the second gen (E70). Pretty much exactly what they are doing now with the G05 (current) and G65 (upcoming).

Wow really? I think the F15 looked great. The only thing I hated about it was the round bumper lights, as they looked out of place and cheap. Other than that I loved it, especially the stance and those huge rear tires. Such a classic X5 look.

Their own new designs will also be based on the current cars right? Or is MB developing an all new ICE platform?

Fun fact: all these directional rims we see lately are one design only, and not mirrored for left wheels and right wheels. Meaning the other side of the car will have those blades point the other way.

You can't unsee it once you know it.
That is precisely the reason, why i'd never order this. Would make me mad!

E70 X5M is one of the best looking BMWs, IMHO. F15 looks like a miserable sack of spuds. I always quite liked the original, but the back end has not aged well...

.. I know I'm in the minority, but the XM is currently my favourite looking BMW SUV.

I guess we really are the minority. XM looks so futuristic and cool. We couldn’t stop staring at it when we first saw it on the road.

Yeah but that appears to be a 3.0d base model.

The 4.8is though...... oh boy......

Still love it.

They came pretty close in regard to a full high performance SUV. Reitzel was trying to implement the first high performance BMW SAV. We got the watered down iS as M was still sacrosanct compared to today. But you have to look back at how the high performance SUV market has grown in the past twenty five years.

Still has the the same frumpy hatch and rear light treatment. But yeah, the iS with it's Alpina connection would be a good choice.

They did build an X5M of the first gen though... E39 M5 running gear...

They did. To evaluate as Reitzle would build and engineer rather than simulate. It seems to the project was a casualty when the issues with Rover and Reitzles departure ended the dream.

The first gen will always be my favorite - so athletic looking while still appearing very solid. I love the E70 and G05 too. F15 was a low point but wasn't terrible.
