Cadillac CT5 [Spy Shots] The Forthcoming Cadillac CT5

The Cadillac CT5 is a mid-size luxury car manufactured and marketed by General Motors under the Cadillac brand since 2019. It is the replacement for the Cadillac CTS.
Cadillac crashed and burned down here. It's not a global car player - simple as that.

It is not a player even in most parts of US.

The real problem with Cadillac is it is a Cadillac. Building a good or even great car is not going to fix it. At least not in the short term.

I’d imagine in SA it’s very hard to just show up to a local Cadillac dealership and ask dor a test drive.

I'd assume martinbo is smart enough to know that my message meant "if the opportunity presents itself." When I travel outside of the U.S. I try to sample things not available here, perhaps he could do the same if time allows.
I hold you both in high regard; both are valid points. Florida here I come in August but I don't think I'll test drive anything other than a Tesla while I'm there.

Snapped outside a restaurant in Tennessee, the all-new CT5 will effectively replace the ATS, CTS and XTS.

That’s a lot riding on one model, but the car will have a striking new design that incorporates some styling cues from the popular Escala concept.

Cadillac has been tight-lipped about specifications, but the CT5’s entry-level engine will likely be shared with the 2019 XT4, which uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. Rumors have also suggested the CT5 will be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well as a 3.6-liter V6, while ee can also expect a CT5 V-Sport and CT5-V in the future.

The Cadillac CT5 is expected to go into be introduced next year, with sales starting in late 2019. Former Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen had commented that the model will appeal to customers looking for a sedan that costs between $35,000 and $45,000.

I am full-on serious, but I hope Cadillac/GM pulls it off with the CT5.

Then again, I said that about the CT6 (I had reasonably high hopes) and was disappointed with the interior. Maybe the F/L has rectified some of the weak points. Once it and the CT5 arrives at the dealer, I'll have a look-see. Though, this time, I won't have high expectations as their track record ain't so good. Their new V8 does have me intrigued.

And Joha...I mean, John, keep up with the Caddy posts.

Entertaining (at times) banter aside:

The upcoming CT5 looks pleasant enough. From what one can suspect what lies beneath the swirly-foil at least. And were I a resident of the U.S.A., I would almost certainly be inclined to consider it as an alternative to the usual German (as well as Korean and Japanese) suspects. That is, if it were to be offered at highly competitive (meaning far less expensive) pricing with a very comprehensive warranty/service package. The emotional "pride of ownership" or "brand equity" factors would be of secondary importance to me. As would be residuals as I'd probably drive it until it falls apart (which I trust would take quite a long while). It is a car that should appeal to more than a few U.S.-American motorists.

On the other hand, there are simply far too many exciting things in the pipeline of the German, Korean and Japanese manufacturers to make Cadillac a globally sustainable proposition.

Don’t forget- Johan left because GM didn’t give him what he wanted.
No. If u mean Motor Trend's thoughts about it, they are wrong. Just rumors. He did not leave because of the cars. There were some different reasons. JDN's plan is still alive.

The upcoming XT6(first gen) is the last car, which will get the CT6/XT5 mixed interior.

As for the CT5, CT5 coupe, XT7, Escalade etc they all will get totally new interiors. As I've been told, the CT5's(sedan) interior will be inspired by this :

@John Galt:

I suspect that you are not professionally involved in automotive sales & marketing. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
