C-Class [Spyshots] 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet (C205)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.

Isn't unusual that C Coupe will debut in a few months and we havn't seen any new spy photos? BMW prototypes are spotted many times in different phases..

A prototype of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet has been spied undergoing testing while carrying the production-spec soft top.

Scheduled to come out sometime next year, the open air C-Class is going to adopt a multi-layered soft top with a design that will likely mirror its bigger brother, the E-Class Cabriolet. It will likely be based on the forthcoming C-Class Coupe and compared to the standard sedan it will have a significantly smaller trunk.

Spy shots of the interior are not available at this point but back in July we saw a mockup of the cabin being exhibited at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart. The cabin had a similar layout as in the sedan and estate but with reshaped seats as well as additional buttons for controlling the side windows and roof. In addition, it will also benefit from the AIRSCARF neck-level heating and AIRCAP air-deflection systems while the engine lineup will be largely carried over from the existing sedan and estate.

It is believed the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet will be unveiled in September 2015 during the Frankfurt Motor Show. There's still no word about the C-Class Coupe which should normally be introduced before its open top sibling. AMG versions of both cabrio and coupe body styles will follow a few months later.

Well, at least this serves as additional confirmation that the pictures earlier in this thread were indeed of the upcoming S-class cabriolet.

Now it's looking like a really nice and classy C-Class!

I wonder if they have a smaller boot-lid squashed inwards or have to resort to an E63 6er rear end to solve packaging issues?

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet spied near the Nurburgring - photos
Coming next year
A fully camouflaged prototype of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet has been spied undergoing testing near the Nürburgring track in Germany.

Yesterday there was a report indicating the C-Class Coupe will be out in December 2015 which could mean the Cabriolet is programmed for a 2016 release, unless Mercedes-Benz will decide to launch the open-top version before its fixed roof sibling. It could actually happen taking into account the C-Class Cabriolet has been spied several times while the coupe is still MIA.

A spiritual successor of the CLK, the new C-Class Cabriolet will feature a multi-layered soft top while the design will mimic the sedan but with a revised bodywork after the A-pillar so expect to find more curvaceous lines creating a more elegant look. So far there aren't any spy shots of the interior but earlier this year Mercedes-Benz showed a mockup of the cabin at its museum in Stuttgart. It had a familiar layout but with power tilt & slide front seats and an extra row of buttons controlling the roof.

The C-Class Cabriolet is rumored to get a starting price below the SLK (set to become SLC) and will reportedly be unveiled in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Engine lineup will be largely carried over from the C-Class Sedan & Estate, all the way up to a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo with 476 HP in the C63 AMG and 510 HP in the C63 AMG S.

I had hoped it would be a pillar less coupe, they must be reserving that for the E-Coupe. I hope the rear of the white render is wrong.

How boring, I thought the Smart Brabus would be at Geneva.

^ Larson renders sometimes come closer. ;)

smart Brabus may still celebrate its world premiere in Geneva prior to an April market launch.

What will be different with the C-class coupe?

This time, the differentiation with the coupe and sedan will be spectacular. In the last generation, we re-engineered a coupe on a sedan. This time they were engineered from birth. Which means it is more aggressive and sportier than ever before. On top of that, we will add the cabriolet. It will give folks the option of open driving at a new price point for Mercedes-Benz. The E class was the entry convertible before.

How long after the sedan will you roll out the C-class coupe and convertible?

A one-year gap.

Tobias Moers (CEO of AMG) has confirmed that the C63 Coupe will be revealed in 2015 so the standard C Coupe should be revealed a few months before. I hope it will be available in summer :-)
