Could be. But I'd say it's more likely being shipped somewhere in the world to have it's official press photos taken for the brochures and publicity. The LA show is a coincidence.

In this pic, especially aft of the A-pillar, the similarities with the AMG-GT are striking.

The interior...I was hoping it'd be vastly different from the current ML. Save for the air vents, COMAND control, and the screen, it's still too similar to the ML, namely the HVAC and audio controls.

This would have been a good chance for them to revamp the interior to bring it in line with the C and S, but I get that would be expensive. The ML/GLE and GL/GLS would all have to change since they're all built together....so next generation then.

Absolutely. There is no way this car is meant for press pics, as the bodywork beneath it is beyond quick repairs with drilled holes for the camo and whatnot.. Press cars are in 'bodybags'

It's looking really good, like the aggressive front bumper and upright Mercedes sports car grill. Rear has AMG GT and S-Class Coupe styling aspects. Interior much better than current ML, I like the center display much better integrated than other models.

I reckon this car will be a much better looking car than the new BMW X6!

I know it's not meant to be a totally new interior, but I really don't like the way it looks so far. Those air vents with that screen in the middle looks almost laughable. Exterior wise this will look better than the X6, no doubt, but the BMW has a MUCH better interior, at least in terms of overall design.

I have to say I strongly disagree with the majority here. It looks really meh to me. That side profile, with the glasshouse that long, and dropping line with the incorporated handles... It does not look good to me.
