To survive in China the VW management have to act fast in a similar way Toyota has with the latest BZ3Xwith the introduction of new EV models based on a partner Chinese platform with styling and tech to be on par with BYD and Geely brand models. Then they need to bring them out at super low prices. The ID3 new version will have to be a $14000 car. They will have to accept huge losses but if they get huge volumes it will help offset the initial losses.Volkswagen may need China, but China no longer needs Volkswagen.
China does not need any car manufacturer by this point. They got all the R&D possible in their hand , from EU.Volkswagen may need China, but China no longer needs Volkswagen.
BYD is a battery manufacturer, basically the most important part of an EV so they don't count.
there's only going to be more Chinese, so we need to be prepared.Big shock. 5 years ago VAG was all china, china, china, CHYNA! Rapid expansion with lots of market specific sedans including long wheelbase ones that are not available elsewhere.
Even VW themselves forgot about it, or they would have stopped producing it sooner.I completely forgot or maybe didn't even know that a shooting brake exists.
The model is pretty in puke green. Disappointingly it never got much attention from VW. Its swag is a like an uncle who worse trainers and popped collar polo shirt to look cool, but did nothing street cred worthy since.Even VW themselves forgot about it, or they would have stopped producing it sooner.
Tragic for the in-hous R&D team at VW. Their platforms have now been rendered garbage.Rivian R2 'Will Underpin All Future EV Projects' At Volkswagen
Rivian R2 'Will Underpin All Future EV Projects' At Volkswagen
Highly scalable Rivian R2 architecture can be used for all segments in which VAG has a presence. From Polo sized vehicles all the way up to large SUVs and sedans well over 5 meters in length. The transition will allegedly be gradual, the evolved MEB (".2", "+" or "evo"...or whatever) will be around for a few years yet. The same applies to the PPE architecture.I'm not up to speed with Rivian at all, would this mean that VW has no small/compact EV projects? I mean, is the R2 suitable for a Polo, for instance?
