1 Series BMW (F40) 1 Series Hatch - from Leaked to Official

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Apparently this is the prototype F40 M140i if true I wonder how much power it’s going to make.

I wonder how much power it’s going to make.
I estimate that the same 400+ as the A45 and the future RS3? Maybe and hopefully a little more around 420 HP, rare times come that there will also be an M2 coupe with the inline 6, two engines with similar power at the same time in the same series 1/2, obviously this 4 cylinder will also go to 2 GC

I don’t see this matching the power output of the A45 or RS3, BMW didn’t even do that with the 6cyl M140i I doubt they would do it with this. I don’t see them putting as much effort as AMG with this 4 banger ...the 48V should help it have a higher output than the M135i but not much higher.

Bimmerpost says that this is a M140i, but it might also be the rumored 128Ti.

Could it be an M135i with an electric motor?
Where will you put it? It is with Aisin transmission, which is not like the ZF one. You can not put it between the engine and the transmission. If they use the formula of the 225i hybrid an ICE driving only the front wheels and an elmotor only the rear than they will end up with 306 ps only at the front wheels which will kill the traction.

The rear of the M135i is it’s party piece besides the quality interior.

Connectivity concepts in the test:
BMW, Mercedes and Audi perform better

Together with "connect" and IT consultancy "umlaut", the ADAC tested eleven compact vehicles

ADAC has in common with "connect" magazine and IT consulting firm "umlaut" tested which vehicle has the best concept of functionality and usability features. Eleven cars in the compact class were examined. The 1 series -BMW achieved the best test result, followed by the Mercedes A-Class and the Audi Q3 Sportback.

The test was divided into four categories: information and entertainment (user interface and entertainment), navigation, connectivity (network options) and ease of use. Particular attention was paid to an intuitive display and operational concept. As a result, only premium manufacturers were able to test themselves, while the other vehicles did not convince testers. The lowest-rated Mazda doesn't even offer a touchscreen.

The ADAC reports: "The winner of the BMW M135i xDrive test scores with its convenient operation and large, high-resolution displays, including the front display and a feature-rich smartphone app. The vehicle's base price is correspondingly high at € 48,900. To use the full package to add another 3,650 euros for digital radio, gesture control and the Business Package Professional. "

No surprises really iDrive remains the best system in the market.

Comments like this, from someone who doesn't seem to have any actual real world experience, just infuriate me. I've owned pretty much every iteration of iDrive since it was first introduced. I've used iDrive 7 for over a year now in my G05 X5. I have lots of experience of Audi and MB systems, as well as moderate experience of other manufacturers' systems. And with the introduction of iDrive 7, it has gone from being the BEST system to without doubt the WORST system. A few weeks ago I was sat at the side of the highway just outside Gent in Belgium at 2am having to restrain myself from punching the damn screen because it had suddenly decided to disconnect itself from my iPhone and wouldn't reconnect. This is a frequent occurrence.

I could talk for hours about what is wrong with it, from software issues, connectivity issues, lack of logic in the menu structure, display layout, functionality, loss of options that were available in previous generations. Some of these issues could be solved via a software update, but that's not possible because I've given up trying to do the OTA software update due to it constantly crashing. I could take it to the dealer but I don't want to do that because lots of people on forums have said when they've done that, the new software is even worse and some functions have been lost.

I'm currently in my F30 3 Series for a week away, and it's a real pleasure being back using that iDrive.

So, hovabong, when you can actually provide REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE as to why the iDrive 7 is the best, I will choose to assume you've got your opinion from your usual source; videos on YouTube.

Of course, you're not going to read this, but then that just explains why you have such a blinkered viewpoint. You've blocked any users who could give you a balanced opinion, and I've no idea why you do it. I should be someone whose contribution you should enjoy. I love BMW. They're my favourite manufacturer. I own two and have a third on order. But because you can't seem to deal with negative comments, you see every day as a battle with regular members just because they post something negative about BMW. It must make your forum experience so anodyne.

Starting to see quite a bit of these in the streets around Stockholm now and I must say it has grown on me. The slightly bloated appearance percieved in the pictures, especially next to the A class and Golf, translates to presence and attitude IRL. Looks meaner, cooler and more energetic than it's competitors. If only rwd... nevermind.
