iNEXT will be revealed at the NextGen event, 11th November 2pm CET
What a surprise that it is so soon, will it be the production model or the Concept "95%" that is generally in the middle? ...., I think the first one we saw was a "Vision"

Although with the economic chaos and what is happening in the world, I get the impression that they are accelerating the final presentations because everyone needs to sell and fast.

According to Motor1.de it will be the production model. But it`s unknown if we will see only the exterior or the interior too because it will not be a full premiere with all informations.

Good data, it also says there that this November 17 a new and mysterious MINI will be presented, which will surely be something EV and a large SUV type as has been commented, but who knows
BMW presenting two EVs in a single week, what times, it seems a lie, it reminds me of 2013 when "i" was launched

The press release reads as follows:

Taking centre stage will be a six-part series “Chasing iNEXT” charting the development of the BMW iNEXT as it moves towards its design world premiere. The docutainment series will be available to watch worldwide in a number of languages from 4.00 pm (CET) on 10 November at bmw.com/NEXTGen.

"design" world premiere is slightly odd wording, I think we will see the final design, but maybe not a full debut with all the details.

Ding ding :)

We will see 3 new things from BMW Group this month.

BMW's first ground-up pure EV. Excited to see what the NEXT gen BMW will be capable of and if Zipse's promise of being flexible will pay off.

My prediction is that it will be slower, have less range and be more expensive than the current benchmark but I'm really hoping BMW can pull a rabbit out of the hat and prove me wrong. Less than 7 days to go.

I don't think this car is a part from the flexibility concept. It has its own platform and it can't be assembled on the normal lines. So it should have no compromises. If it is behind in some parameters, this would be only due to the usage of not the latest technology and not due to flexibility concept restrictions.

I'll settle for it just not being as ugly as these spy pics make it seem.

It looks excellent in the spy shots proportions wise. The devil will be in the details, but at least a giant grille is okay on a huge SUV.

The front end looks like a 2-series GT- no "prestige gap" and a sloped hood. Combined with the large grille my fear is it's just going look like a minivan. I'll of course wait to judge but I don't like what I see so far.

You must be kidding....

And besides not needing a prestige gap due to being a BEV, a BMW SUV never has huge prestige gaps. Just look at the X5, it's not much bigger than the iNext. The only one from BMW with a big prestige gap that comes to mind is the first gen X1 because it's a crossover.

Smallish prestige gaps look good on big SUVs, imo. Makes them looks more compact and hunkered down. The prestige gap on the GLE for instance arguably is smaller than iNext:

It looks good. Simple. Because the hood is very high.

Fair enough, the videos I saw made the hood look far more sloped.

"Prestige gap" being prestige is a vestige of ICE age.

</pats self on the back>

It's true, as cars like the Lucid Air don't have it and still manage to look expensive. In cars like the iNext such proportions can make it come off as cheap at times though. It's the same thing I think about when I look at Mercedes' upcoming EQ vehicles. Like I said, I'll withhold judgment until they're unveiled.

My point is the "prestige gap" has any prestige associated with it cause it is associated with the proportions of ICE powered RWD cars in contrast to cheaper ICE FWD cars. But that association is strictly an ICE thing and not applicable to BEVs. So why judge a BEV using an ICE criteria.

It would be as silly as putting a big grill on a BEV... oh wait, never mind!
