Did we ever find out what the sports car above the iX3 is?

Could it be the 1 megawatt iM3 NK concept?

I actually think this is what Pebble Beach will give us a preview of.

IMHO spendid and I can only hope that it is actually very close to reality. Its exterior makes an immensely significant design statement and all of the things that I personally find "wrong" with the current 5er and 7er have been resolved. This could evolve into a landmark automobile.

Yes, that's a car like no other. But nice ? No. That could be anything, Alfa, Renault, Toyota.
Makes no sense for me, to cut so deep in tradition like BMW and MB obviously like to do.

I'm afraid that I fail to comprehend what you are saying here. "Cut so deep in tradition" ? Do you mean rejecting or embracing "tradition". Should it be "embracing" it, this particular rendering evokes a similar sort of vibe that was evident when the 1600/2, which later became the "02 cars", was presented in 1966. That car was arguably the most clean, functional yet exciting German automobile of that era, save of course the Porsche 911. A landmark automobile and for many, like myself, THE quintessential BMW.

I don't see BMW releasing a car where the taillights are protruding out further than the bumper.

This is what I'm saying!!
This whole bs of minimalising the angel eyes into abstract shapes/lines is horrible. Those eyes gave a BMW presence.
Meanwhile they went the completely opposite direction with the hoffmeister kink and exaggerated it and even gave it a little plaque of it's own.
Just incongruent.

The round headlamps looked amazing with the sharp boxy edges of pre-2000s BMWs, so I think it could still work. It'd look great in fact.
There's something about seeing those Sharp Round Angel Eyes coming up behind you at night in the mirrors. You know whats coming.

I prefer the round lamps. Tradition aside I just think they'd look better. I'd bet what we get is mash-up of shapes that has little form in isolation and doesn't look typical of BMW either.

What I would not give for old school exposed twin circular lights. But I think BMW designers are too full of themselves to do something that simple and straightforward.

You call it simple and straightforward, and I call it backwards. We would have never gotten quad headlights in the first place if this was their thinking process.

Buy an E30 if you want old school.
I like those quads as much as the next guy but come on.... we've had every single variation under the sun by now.

We got quad round headlights cause form followed function. Nothing backwards about it.
