F1 Formula 1 - 2023 Season

Yeeeah, I'd forgive the Las Vegas GP a lot of it's shortcomings, but they did take a massive dump on dedicated, paying fans. While the inspection cover thing was perhaps not anticipated, making sure you can host spectators for any period when the track is allowed to be open seems like a no brainer.

The money factor is more important than the sport factor in F1. This is nothing new, it has been like this for many, many years; pay drivers, middle-east races, corruption, excessive shows. This is the reason I am loosing more and more interest in this «sport»….

Whether it is by design, or pure coincidence, it was a good motor race to watch.

In terms of pre race organization and preparation, there are definitely a lot of areas which needs to be improved.

F1 was fortunate that on race day, it delivered. There isn't much more one can ask for, besides the rain.

exciting race, do i still think Vegas is worth a 10 year contract? no

i still look at the whole event as a spectacle for Liberty Media to get money primarily with the race itself being a secondary priority for them

As long as people are willing to pay for this "show" , Liberty media will keep this on.

LV GP was truly exaggerated and got (many) people thinking if it's worth going to F1 races anymore.

Yesterday I was talking with a friend that he wanted to go to the race but he was afraid of the price. And when I told him that he could get a Hospitality ticket ,first hand, for the price of what we paid just a few months ago at Silverstone ( 3rd party) , he was shocked. The Saudi next year's race has a price of around 3500euros for hospitality....And is not the most desired race of the year....

Cracking race. 5 genuine lead changes on track with no rain - I don't know if/when I last saw that many.

Feel for Charles, As well be named Charles "Un" Luckylerc, but he drove his heart out.

Leclerc DOTD. Max and Perez got lucky with the SC.
Max made a fool of himself making so many silly comments all weekend. The kid needs to grow up.
The race was better than expected.

Vamosss Checooo... You are the only driver in history to have less than half the points of his teammate champ

That is really hard to obtain. Even worse , with the best car in the game

Not even Heikki Kovalainen(mediocre at best ) had less than half of the points Lewis had in his first Championship

Fisichella and Barichello got less than half of their title winning team mate's points (Alonso and Schumacher respectively), so no, Perez is not the only driver in history to have less than half the points of his championship winning team mate, it's happened at Ferrari and Renault. Vettel was only 1 point off doubling Webber's tally in 2013 (397 to 199), so it's also very nearly happened within Red Bull before.

Different points system. Using the 2008 points system Perez would currently have 103 versus 200 for Verstappen, so not less than half in a fair comparison.

you can also apply the current point system to the 2008 season

Heikki would go from 54% of Lewis's points to 56% as he would have had 3 more points paying finishes, versus only 1 for Lewis. He would get one more fastest lap point than Lewis as well.

Having said that, Felipe Massa would also be champion under the current points system, so Heikki's points versus Lewis's wouldn't really matter in the context of team-mates who are champions.

As a side note, I quite liked Heikki. He tested the BMW M4 DTM in 2014 and I was quite hoping he'd get the drive, he didn't, and then went on to win SuperGT instead.
