The W212 was launched in Spring 2009. The facelift in Spring 2013 was extensive & expensive. I doubt it will only last 2 years.
So, the 7-year life-cycle indicates the new E-class coming in Spring 2016 (as MY 2017 in US, I guess), not earlier. But perhaps due to such big facelift in 2013 the W212's life cycle will be prolonged a bit. Who knows.

But definitely the new E isn't coming in 2015.

The E-Class will be completely outdated by 2017. I mean run over by the competition. The current E hasn't been the best car from day one, and it has to go 3-4 more years? No way. Then again we haven't seen any test mules so there might be something to this 2016-2017 rumor.

Mercedes is really busy because the CLA is forcing the C to grow and the GLA will do the same to the GLK. The GLK seems to be coming for the 2016 model year, a little shorter than the normal 7 year run.

Yes, I rather see a SLS competitor. But when I see these numbers - GL - 22000, SL - 5500, SLS - 300, even I give up.

The Chinese market literally explains the entire sales difference between Mercedes, BMW and Audi. MB needs to post stronger gains than the other two in the Chinese market to catch up.
