Yes and with the Mopf there’ll be less black shiny plastic in the interior. For me the W223 is a timeless goddess as the W126 and the W116
I really hope they get rid of that fugly black shiny plastic in the interior. If they still keep that shite in the interior, then I have no hope for Mercedes future.Yes and with the Mopf there’ll be less black shiny plastic in the interior.
All the switches, seat controls, and door handle were plastic, just molded in color or electroplated….The W222 proudly claimed that it only had 1 piece of plastic on its doors, the inner part of the door release handle. It's a shame these doors are now full of plastic.
Doesn't look like the S will adopt the GLC EV front grill design changes.
I suspect we will see the FL before the years end, with an all new model for 2028.
I also think the W224 will move upmarket.
The W214 is the closest gap they've had between E and S in some time, and the Chinese are putting a lot of pressure on the Germans. The next S will have to be a knock out in many respects, and that's going to cost $.
Fit, finish, design and lightness will be key. Hopefully they can put some of that fancy 3D printed body structure tech from the EQXX into practice. It's expensive tech obviously, but it makes sense in an application such as the S class, which always serves to debut leading edge tech and luxury. The way the Chinese brands have moved upmarket so fast and are having cars at least 30% cheaper than the S-class and with even more features and tech is mind blowing to say the least and Mercedes needs a Bruno Sacco moment with the W224 to once again put them in the top step of the podium for tech and luxury. The Yangwang U7 and Nio EP9 are cars I can think of that has delivered tech and luxury even higher than the S-class. The next W224 must be more bespoke with Manufaktur been put into a higher RR type choose as you build spec with the finest materials used even if it costs 20 to 30% more.
I would be happy if Mercedes could get rid of the screens and instead use the Augmented Reality Windscreen. That would be a world wide first in a production car and would make the dash a treat for the interior designers to go wild with some hitech and unusual material trim. I also hope they bring in the mushroom leather and carpets made from fiber of recycled plastic bottles or any new sustainable materials. 3D printed parts would be good to save weight, especially the suspension, interior. Axial flux motors and thinner and more compact battery cell tech would also help to reduce weight.Fit, finish, design and lightness will be key. W224 needs to not be so screen heavy. That doesn't mean no screens at all, but they shouldn't be the focal point or a replacement for high quality tactile instruments.
Literally nobody said the 7er had the best looking premium interior though, lol. At least it’s better than having squeaky plastics on a €100k+ car.
