I had an F56 MINI Cooper as a loan car for 3 days last year. The feel-good factor is huge. Beautifully built, great ride / handling balance with good damping and a premium feel that's a standard above anything else in the class.

I bet this new F66 will build upon these positive attributes.

No air-intake in the hood for Cooper S anymore?
Watch the @bmwblog video that I posted, the designer explains the elimination of everything "superfluous" such as the characteristic double central exhausts, a new hood killed the intake, the truth behind that word is that it is a super deep LCI that treats to modernize by simplifying any accessory in the bodywork in a car with many years on it and look as similar as possible to the most modern Mini EV, whether we like it or not, I also want the intake.

They didn't remove the fenders moldings because they couldn't, they would have to change the metal press

The spats (the plastic wheel arches) make a huge difference and retain that dose of character. In contrast the EV looks too reductive, too simple. Something feels lost. I’d say I‘d wait to see them in person but the EV will not be in the US for a couple more years.

Had understood that would be sold from this year, where did you get that information from?

BMW Blog and Motoringfile. US tariffs on Chinese EV vehicles are the reason. So until they get EV production up in Oxford, we wait in the US. Same reason that we are delayed in receiving the Aceman.

I guess they'll still sell the old one then.

I think it's a great send off for the ICE mini. I wonder how long it will stay.
From the usual 7-year life cycles, it can be assumed that it will go until Mini's 2030 deadline to be all EV..., so despite some LCI in the middle of that, I think we are seeing the last Cooper ICE 🥺

*That color is charming

That Jam is still Pumpin’.

It’s the perfect way to update. Especially with newer sister models. The whole update is a universal approach to MINI and this particular model to not have it as a dead product in light of its electric brethren. The only conflict now will be Electric? Or an ICE MINI.
I expect this approach will be used on the next 3er in light of the new-Klasse. Similar styling and a major overhaul without alienating the iCE customer. Bravo.

The current Cooper SE goes out of production in a couple of months. Once that supply is gone in the US, its gone until the J01 makes its way here.
So I guess if you're looking for an Mini Ev urgent over there......Go Countryman!

MINI

Mini (stylized as MINI) is a British automotive brand founded in 1969, owned by German BMW since 2000, and used by them for a range of small cars assembled in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands. The word Mini has been used in car model names since 1959, and in 1969 it became a brand in its own right when the name "Mini" replaced the separate "Austin Mini" and "Morris Mini" car model names.
