1 Series [Official] BMW 1 Series Sedan [Chinese Market Exclusive]

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
M'eh, indeed. That said, gun to my head, if had to choose between this, an A3 or a CLA, I'd probably lean towards this. And with that said, I'd avoid all 3 since they FWD-based, get Mazda6 (or a CX5) that's bigger and pocket the savings.

What I have heard is that RWD is favoured for the next 2er as the car is enjoying success as such.
However CLAR will be too expensive to use within a compact car so it will utilise an existing RWD platform with modifications to accommodate the larger Four Door Gran Coupe. And because this is not a G car it will be an F car because of its use as an existing platform.

It's strange that this new release is known as a 1er sedan. I thought you previously referred to this as a 2er sedan?

So all cars regardless of their drivetrain which don't use the CLAR platform will get the F designation. Sweet.

Will the future 2er coupe take any design hints from this generation (or the next generation of the lifecycle is short) 1er sedan?

Globally it was considered under the 2er just as Active Tourer/Gran Tourer were considered for 1er.

This is the only RWD model planned using an existing modified platform. As everything else will be under UKL and CLAR.
The proposed Z3 model will use a shortened version of the architecture developed for the Z5/Supra and be shared with the GT86 replacement. Using an existing but modified platform for one model spun three ways will also be cost effective and profitable in the long run.

It's not "old" @klier. It's relevant. I'm not intending to start a debate yet again. Scoot is what he is, but if someone asks "are you sure?" to info he's sharing, then they need to know that he's by no means a credible source. I posted it in the least emotional and provocative way.
