X1 [Official] BMW X1 F48 LCI

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman. Despite its name, it is now only the second smallest SUV produced by BMW since the introduction of the X2.
It's a refreshing update that brings it into line with its older siblings.
Especially the front, where the X1 takes on an appearance of a mini-X5.
I expect X3 will get a similar refreshing when it comes around with the now ubiquitous "connected" Kidney Grille.

Yesterday, after seeing the videos, in some stances, I got the same impression that the X1 looked fairly close to the X5. Which can only be good, because the X5 is one hell of a looker, both in pictures and IRL.

I get it that it's a big product onslaught, but BMW needs to be better in spacing out their new releases and LCIs.

For internet fanboys?

The LIVE cockpit is also analogue.

There seems to be a misunderstanding as to what "analogue" means. Analogue means something which presents data in a continuously variable physical quantity.

Not at all when referring to car cockpits. Digital means a display and analogue means an actual needle.
But I am not going to argue it if you feel differently.

Yes, I did say that in response to Martin when I said "I do know what people mean when they talk about the old "analogue" displays".

The reason for my contribution to this thread was @domleo999 saying...

Very surprised they didn’t include the live cockpit...3 more years of the analogue display?

So even though the X1 LCI is not a physical needle and is an electronic representation of a needle, @domleo999 was refering to it as the "analogue display", which is understandable. But if THAT is regarded as "analogue", then the LIVE cockpit should be referred to as "analogue". Just because it's an unconventional display without a traditional round cluster with a needle, it is actually no different to what the X1 LCI display is. They're both ELECTRONICALLY generated ANALOGUE displays, in that data is being presented by variable visible quantity (the needle) in a spatial position. A bit like the analogue display for the Apple Watch.

But I agree, I know what people mean when they refer to digital and analogue cockpits.

Quite a successful facelift top notch build quality and I really like the real exhaust on the car, for the class of car it’s a high quilt product overall not a lot of corners cut.

The interior is not up to par.
Quite frankly, the level of BMW quality interior should start on G20 level. F48 is a bit budget compared to that.

Still a lovely car. For the X1, going to FWD didn't hurt. For the 1er, I anticipate it's going to be a different story.
