F-Type [Official] Jaguar F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater sports cars manufactured by British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque from 2013 to 2024. The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform. It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the E-Type.
I want to like Jaguars as much as I do some of Land Rover's products (I just love the PLA platform RR and RR Sport) but the only one I really could see myself buying is the XJ because of how much I like its driving demeanour. And frankly, those are the wrong reasons for which to like a car in that class. It's brilliant in areas of the brief that carry far less consumer-importance when compared to cars like the 7er and new S-Class; areas like driver involvement, handling and dynamics. The fact is is that the XJ is less well put together, less up-to-date in interior systems and less spacious than its equivalent competitors. So why on Earth would I want one over an E63 AMG? I wouldn't.

The F-Type is a deeply compromised product too - sandwiched in between two of Porsche's finest - with no objective superiority over either of them.

Chris even acknowledge that fact yet still preferred the F-Type, maybe its the type of car (despite its failings) you need to drive and experience to fully appreciate.

Oh, I didn't know you were on a first name basis with him; please send him my regards.

As for the review, objectively, there's nothing that Harris says that places the F-Type ahead of the "chick's" 911.

I'll refer to him as "Monkey" from now on to give the impression that I'm even friendlier with him than Deckhook.

He did retweet something of mine a few months ago about how good the first generation Ford Ka was, so that makes us best mates in my book.

The F-Type the the same compromised piece of shit between a 981 and a 991 as BMW is between a Mercedes and an Audi.

^^And Levi, before you comfort yourself by thinking, 'Oh bad BMW fanboy gave me dislike cause I said bad things about BMW', no it is for the flagrant trolling.

^Agreed, where as I chose to use BMW as an example regarding weight distribution Levi is using it as a tool to vent his outrage at being banned from the 4 series thread.

No one is saying the F-Type is as good a driving machine as either Porsche but its definitely got a unique character which by all accounts has an appeal that elevates it beyond any of its failings. If I were in the position to consider a sportscar again I'd have to think long and hard between it and either Porsche.

^ a 'lightweight' six-cylinder 2 seater rag-top that weighs more than a BMW 528i.

€105k, 0-100 km/h 5.2s, 17.7 mpg US = JLR's 'achievement'.

$55k, 0-60 mph 4s, 25 mpg US = JLR's nemesis.

Quattroruote road test: here.

weight = 1,860 kg?! (V6 S claimed weight 1,613 kg) - two up?

39 metres stopping distance(from 100 km/h) - sub Dacia performance!

Dreadful comfort, likes a drink, €110k!, ... .

F*ck me, the English have gone totally f*cking mad.
