E-Class W213 [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. Sensors on the front and back of the rim of the steering wheel on the 2021 Mercedes E-class sedan will monitor and register whether the steering wheel is being held and signal assistance systems that the car is under control.

Mercedes-Benz will introduce new steering wheel technology that solves a problem unique to the wave of semiautonomous vehicles.

Most modern driver-assistance systems require drivers to periodically register they are paying attention to the road with a tug of the steering wheel. Mercedes' new capacitive steering wheel, arriving on the 2021 E-Class sedan, takes that wrestling out of the equation.

The new generation of steering wheels has capacitive hands-off detection.

A two-zone sensor mat is located in the rim of the steering wheel. The sensors on the front and back of the rim register whether the steering wheel is being held and signal assistance systems that the vehicle is under control. The touch control buttons integrated into the steering wheel spokes also function capacitively.

The E-Class is the most popular model in the traditional midsize luxury sedan segment and one of the biggest biggest profit centers.

The refreshed 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, expected to arrive stateside this fall, will be offered with two new engines - a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and a beltless six-cylinder engine. Both engines are paired with an integrated starter generator, known as EQ Boost, that can add up to 20 horsepower for short periods.

Mercedes has equipped the E-Class with a suite of driver-assistance tech, including a safety system that monitors blind spots even when a vehicle is at a standstill. The system can warn the driver of approaching vehicles, motorcycles or bicycles when opening the door.

I've done over 2000 km on mine (Comfort mode) and noticed b...
Interesting observation, was the sports exhaust an option from the factory? For me the car has just went over 1500 km, the cold starts were always loud and it hasn't changed since.

After 1500 km, I have put the car in sports mode once and rev to 4000 rpm briefly just to push it a little bit more. I will push the engine further after the first oil change.

I wanted to post a photo of my almost 4 years old E400, but I'm having some technical difficulties so I will do it later.

My car just hit 90,000 km, I reserved an appointment for service but the dealer work shop is extremely busy and the nearest appointment is 2 weeks away.

As for the car, I ran 90,000 km without any major issues with the car, the issues I faced were very small and I will summarize them:-

1- Electric steering wheel adjustment mechanism got stuck, it appeared that there was an issue with the steering locking mechanism, the issue was fixed on spot under warranty.
2- front window defroster vent with the speakers causes a squeaking noise, the issue was resolved after 45,000 service, but it appeared again. In my opinion, its a poor design since its 2 plastic surfaces touching each other with no elastomer in between.

I'm still enjoying the car on daily bases, and I think the interior overall has excellent quality and it held up very well for 4 years, keeping in mind I live in a very hot environment. The only squeak/rattle sound in the car is the one mentioned above (front defroster/speaker contact area). The engine and gear are still extremely smooth. Everything in the car is still 100% functional including all of the 24 burmester speakers. Thank god not even 1 light bulb has broken down.

The only down side of owning a Mercedes in KSA is the dealer, its a shame that Mercedes has only one dealer in the area and he is charging more money and worst quality service to customers.

Note: I didn't change my brake pads until now, its been 90,000 km yet I feel the brake pads have more life in them.

Ride along in the W213 E63 non S version.
It is still pretty damn quick.

That is the E63S spec to go for, it really looks great in the matt grey. I kinda like the yellow stitching and also noticed that the roof grab handles have leather covering which adds extra class.

This Brabus E63 looks fantastic.

Until I saw the interior, I thought it was the W214.....
The plates on the backrests are beautiful but won't they bother your back?
In any case it is fabulous, especially that orange interior is just right, ignoring those horrible "B" logos.

I am not a huge fan of the exhaust tips i think they look a little small for this car, but otherwise this car looks perfect especially the orange leather
