RELEASE FOR THE 20/1 UPDATE OF THE S COUPÉS AND CABRIOLETS
Mercedes-Benz today starts sales approval for year 20/1 for the 217 series, i.e. for the S Class Coupé (C 217) and for the Cabriolet (A 217). Deliveries will start in June 2020.
NEW BASE PRICES FOR S CLASS COUPÉ AND CABRIOLET
With the change year 20/1, Mercedes-Benz is raising the base prices for the 217 series. Accordingly, the S 450 4MATIC is now available for 104,006 euros and is also the entry-level model. The S 560 is now 130,364.50 euros, the S 560 4MATIC costs 134,172.50 euros. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC+ Coupé is available from 179,749.50 euros. Those who prefer the open variant of the S Class Cabriolet must calculate 145,894 euros for the S 560 and 195,160 euros for the S 63 4MATIC+ Cabriolet.
With the year of change, the “high-tech silver” code 922U is now available, while magnetite black, iridium silver and diamond silver - but also aragonite silver - are no longer available.
UPDATED EQUIPMENT OPTIONS FOR THE 217 SERIES
The Digital radio will be standard equipment in the future. The Burmester Surround sound system is included in the standard equipment for the S 560 Coupé, S 560 4MATIC Coupé and S 560 Cabriolet. Also new is the introduction of an emergency lane function in the Active Steering Assistant, as well as the turning function and the end-of-traffic-jam emergency braking function in the Active Braking Assistant. The URBAN GUARD vehicle protection equipment is also available for the first time. The MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension and the preparation for the NFC key card are no longer available.
It becomes interesting with the active parking assistant with PARKTRONIC, which in the future will simply be called PARKTRONIC. What no one has yet confirmed to us is the elimination of the automated parking functions of the system, i.e. Steering, braking and accelerating. This should also be omitted in the parking package with a reversing camera or with a 360 degree camera.
In the future, the Active Lane Change Assist may no longer be available in the driver assistance package. In the future, the system may also only detect driver activity via a steering impulse, and no longer by pressing a steering wheel button or touch control buttons.
Incidentally, there are currently no details or official statements about the end of production for the 217 series. However, it is no secret that the Stuttgart-based company will further reduce the vehicle portfolio - and the 217 series may also be affected.
