S-Class W222 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222 Facelift) 2017-2020

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
The W221 was largely trouble free too.

In regards to the W220, right now I think Diamler should round up every pre-facelift world-wide and crush them collectively. Between the air-matic failures and the rust I see on most, it’s just embarrassing and a bad look for the brand.

It’s a shame because the W220 had so many technological firsts and was th...

The w222 has been a very special vehicle as I said in the other thread. MB had so much experience and feedback from past generations, they knew what needed to be done.

What astounds me is that this car was in development during the global crash and yet it turned out so well.

I hate partisanship so much, but I have to admit MB done a very fine job and the product deserves all the praise ten fold.

The work on the next generation XJ I did in Coventry was wasted.

Lexus botched their opportunity to relaunch their flagship and namesake product.

Audi put out a cold feeling, underwhelming computer screen.

BMW put respectable effort into the G11, but have ruined the clean lines of the original with this joke of an LCI. The final design for the G70 better not top the tackiness of the Mk II G12.

MB was ready to take on entry level RR and Bentley at the high end, further stomp out their existing competition, while building on the strengths of predecessors and also borrowing a page from the elegance of British design aesthetics.

The market has spoke and MB was justly rewarded for getting it 100% right, after 40 years of different experimentations.

I just hope to God, the W223 won't be a regression that jeopardizes the nameplate, to only cause controversy a la E65 7er circa 2001. I am not liking how that car is turning out and shed a tear for the day this goes out of production.

This lives up to the level of W126, no contest more than any other generation of S-Class. As well as including the plusses of the W140, which also attempted to give the ultra-luxury class a run for its money.

Watched Bill Gates’ documentary on Netflix and couldn’t help but notice that he drives a fully-optioned W222 S550. Classy spec too.

Years ago (back in the early W221 era) I was told he rotates between personally specced green S-classes.

Can someone tell the brass at MB that there’s no need to replace the W222 for while... just give it MBUX... gorgeous spec:

If they can duplicate the same type of appeal and dominance with the W223, the S_Class will be even more legendary. That said I wait to see what a fully dressed S580 will look like. Then come the AMG versions. We have about 4-5 months to go I think.

Very beautiful that of the photos above, a sublime combination, the interior of the W222, must be the top three of the decade without a doubt and if it did not have that double flat screen ruining it, it would be THE interior of the decade

To somewhat repeat what I had just said in the Cabrio thread, replace piano black with the natural brown ash wood, and *chef's kiss.*

In this case it’s actually Dark Ash, though it’s hard to see. I would’ve gotten for a lighter wood trim or the new flowing lines trim wood from the Maybach GLS (Also available on MY2020 S’).

I wish the gloss dark ash wood is available on the E class, just like it was on the W212. I am over the current matte open pore wood trim trend.

It's lovely. Our 43 and 53 AMG models all get it. But as lovely as it is, it's totally out of place in these sports variants. They deserve interesting aluminium treatments or carbon fibre.
