For the last production year in China, all models of the w222 will swop to the new in line m256 3 litre engine.


The previous base s320l will no longer come with the m264 2.0 engine and replaced by the s350l with the m256 engine from the s500 but detuned to 299ps and 480nm.

Much longer...The update itself was a market strategy to keep the current model competitive as long as possible..If the W223 gets released by the end of this year or early 2021,it won't go on sale in China early than the end of 2021 or early 2022.

I'm sure it does, but is that Benz's fault BMW doesn't offer more body styles? Coupe and cabrio sell in very small numbers in China by the way, big reason they're being cancelled altogether.

I'm afraid no...the Maybach S sales was separately counted here...it contributed another 9142 units in 2019.

Thanks for the correction. I didn’t bother to check- I just remember learning from my contact at MBUSA that the cabrio didn’t have enough global demand. Makes sense if it’s not been sold in convertible-avoidant China anyways.
