S-Class W223 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223)

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013.

All that matters? Nah hardly. All that matters are the costs, and the E class being a relic ICE car isn't ticking any boxes.

It sure did tick the boxes with the journalists' press releases.
The E is ahead of the class with numerous magazine articles from different sources here in the US. MotorTrend, Motor Week, Car&Driver just to name a few.

The E is a fantastic ICE offering. A plug in hybrid variant of the E is infinitely more appealing to me than an EV 5.

Klier is living in an alternate reality created by western 'leaders' and god know what other nifarious characters. The intent was clearly to force EVs on to the market for whatever agenda (global warming? Environmental concerns? Really?) they are pursuing.

It's been a while since the E has had such wide spread praise. It's clearly the best E in a few generations. It's the kind of effort that Mercedes must put into everything they make from now on. I'm hopeful that the new CLA and S FL will get such praise. The CLA in particular needs to under promise and over deliver and drive like a Mercedes.

I thought the previous gen (W213) was held in pretty high regard by both critics and customers. Solid style inside and out, good ride, good dynamics, and well-rounded powertrain choices.

In fairness to Klier, he's persistently beating the bleeding edge tech-bro drum, not the eco-warrior one. It may well be (or is, depending on market) that EVs were/are being foisted on the market for Eco reasons, but that doesn't mean that from an individual perspective people who think EVs are just fantastic think that because of those Eco reasons.

Personally, I don't know anyone with an EV that gives a **** about the environment. Their cars are faster than they're used to and they're not having to pay for fuel (or personal tax for company cars) any more... that's really it.

Yeah it was, the facelift W213 won MotorTrend car of the year. I think the W214 just won MotorTrend car of the year as well.

It would have been nice if being more eco friendly was even true in the first place.... I don't think EVs are more eco friendly in the grander scheme, but more of a persuasion feel good point to push the EV trend.....

I don’t remember it being praised like the new one back it was introduced. I don’t exactly remember tho.

It was a very good car blighted by an interior that looked great, but felt a little chintzy and brittle in parts, like a lot of MB interiors, W213 and below, of that era. The new E interior has eschewed some detailing and trim, in favour or a far more solid looking and feeling aesthetic.

The only thing Klier is beating in this case is the BMW drum.

FWIW...

The aspect of ecology per se has never been, for me, the significant factor regarding BEVs. I simply love the driving experience. The instant torque, the refinement. I do not own a BEV and my experiences with them have been limited to loaners and demonstrators. Whatever...I've always enjoyed the experience, albeit usually brief. From an electric SMART ForTwo to a VW ID4, SMART #1 BRABUS, KIA EV6 and Audi etron GT. And I've been driving for a long time, my drivers licence first issued in 1970.

Excellent. Keep that in mind next time before you question others. Because your fanboy talk regarding anything S class or E class is simply laughable.

Fanboy because I've focused on two cars that actually live up to the brands values, and have been clear about my dislike for many of their other products at this point in time?

Grow a brain mate, before spewing nonsense.

I prefer S580 without e. ;)

Some youtubers easily cheap to 590-600hp and you have S63 AMG without hybrid bullshit, proper V8, yet comfy and discreet.
