The GLK was one of merc’s late model designs that was very distinct and nice. The GLK doesn’t look too bad, but that version of the E looks horrible.

This gen of merc had the solid feeling central tunnel and instrument cluster and stalks… weren’t the AC vents made of metal? Even the doors felt substantialOnly the cheap Classic models had these round twin fog lights. The Avantgarde and Exclusive, the lion’s share of W212, wore these ones

The FL models had the metal look vents, but the preFL models are also built very well. I have a friend with a 2010 E200 CGI and his car inside has more solid materials than my W213.This gen of merc had the solid feeling central tunnel and instrument cluster and stalks… weren’t the AC vents made of metal? I love the huge trim insertion across the dash in the W223. Not sure how a silly huge screen will look any better. Regarding the front lights, I can’t see why a new shape would be needed. I would keep the changes to the minimum and rather focus them on the non-AMG front bumper, which looks dull and dated.S class facelift is expected end of 2024/start of 2025. According to jesmb it’ll receive the MBUX superscreen (as in W214 E class) and new front lights. I’d be interested to know if it will get complete new, different shaped front lights or front lights with the same shape and only a new interior.
I’m all for more physical buttons in high quality. W222 offered some fine examples (seat adjustment) of how it should be done. It would be nice if they‘d up the quality of the gear and indicator sticks. These two are so cheap, and you use them everyday and everytime. The quality of the gear stick has been going down since W221.The overall dash architecture for the Super screen is better than what the S currently has with all the bloody Piano Black, because you can at least option it with wood trim.
I just hope they bring back physical controls for climate and stuff.
I remember reading that a lot of companies, including Mercedes are going to backpedal away from all the stupid haptics on steering wheels and for rudimentary controls.
The S class should take pride in offering high quality switchgear and tactile feedback, as well as high technology. Technology should not replace tactility.
Funny how two totally different cars are added arbitrarily to give a total value greater than the real one, not only absurd but unnecessary since in (Germany), the S-Class also wins easily: 4846 unitsS-Class clearly retains the leadership in Germany

Drawing the figures, to "hide" the poor performance of certain key models in their strategy....?what's even is the point?
Probably to hide poor numbers for the EQS variants.Seems that this also includes EQS SUV numbers.
I mean, at this point what's even is the point?

Cracks in the luxury strategy - MICHAEL GERSTER

It’s lost. The old Mercedes didn’t have to strive to be more premium their products did all the talking. They’ve completely lost sight of this. Having to stress that you’re premium means you’re not. The new SL is overpriced and compared to say a R129 it’s a tin can.Does anyone have access to the full article to translate into English?
I'm of the belief Mercedes is going to really have to up the ante in terms of build and finish quality on the EQ lines and anything sub E-class. With pricing in some markets now significantly above Audi and BMW I don't see how this model will be sustainable. If you want to charge luxury goods fixed pricing, then the product must reflect that.
