These seats look amazing, especially if they are anywhere near as comfortable as those in the XC90.

I love the natural wood finish in the Inscription, especially the book-end inlay in front of the shifter.

I don't want to inundate this thread with so many photos, so I'll cherry-pick those that I like. For more, go to the following link:

It doesn't have the typical botched FWD proportions either. Great work.

M

It does, but it's not so terrible. Frankly, I am more tolerant with Volvo than I am with either MB or BMW. EDIT: Actually, I agree. When staring at the side profile view of the gray example, I don't get a FWD feel. Kudos, Volvo!

Disagree totally. No it doesn't. The front overhang is short an there is just as much space between the front wheels and the front doors as on most RWD cars.

Not bad Volvo, not bad. XC90 and now this. I've never really cared for Volvo till these two showed up.
Can we attribute this to the Chinese?

No, not to Chinese design, strategy or technology. Just their cash....

That is a bit harsh, they saw the investment opportunity, and funded the brand new range of cars. They saved Volvo and took a hands off approach and trust Volvo to make good with the large sums of money they were given.

That's exactly what I said. Cash. It's all they contributed.
If they had a hands on approach the brand would be destroyed.
They have not achieved the creation of anything from scratch (yet).

The Genius of the decision by the Chinese owners to write the cheques and let them get on with it has paid off very well. And surely a benchmark for the industry. Compared to how GM destroyed Saab by suffocating their creativity and Swedishness.
The S90 is not just distinctive but intricately Swedish in its details and craftsmanship.
The resurgence and rejuvenation of Volvo continues. What's the next all new model after V90?.

Beautiful, however I still don`t like the rear. As busy as it is, it`s all Scandinavian influence.
The profile is nice but the rear from profile view seems a little outdated as I stated on the scaled down models and I know why now, it`s the rear bumper! It looks like its 3-inches and 15 years out of bounds. No one does bumpers like that anymore.
The rear doors also seem a little short compared to the front doors.

do not understand why a 5 meter car is FWD with this proportions. When I first saw the pictures of the matchbox car model I though it might be RWD like was the 940/960 (the last RWD Volvo). I actually never understood why cars over 4,5 meters have FWD.
That is why at least for me there is a big difference between MB/BMW and Audi.

Hence the "EDIT" I added not but 5 minutes later where I retracted my original stance especially after staring at the gray car, and thus agreeing with you that it does not have a front overhang that's endemic to most FWD cars.

Ok, what is this assembly? Why does it require air from the intake and what's in the green container?

Good question, I posted that hoping someone could shed some light on that, especially that green tank.

It's Volvo's new system called PowerPulse.

It's an electric pump that compresses clean intake air into that storage tank. This compressed air is then fed via a valve to the exhaust manifold in order to increase the exhaust gasses pressure, so that you get a reduced turbo lag when you want rapid acceleration.

Here's a video with a better explanation:
