GLA [Renders] 2019 Mercedes CLA (gen II)

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Mercedes-Benz over two generations. It is essentially the SUV equivalent of the A-Class, and the smallest SUV marketed by the brand.
2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class Finally Shows LED Headlights

The web is filled with spy photos and videos of the brand new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, but so far, the car doesn't look that interesting. Thankfully, our latest batch adds an important design element: LED headlights.
Yes, you will be able to buy the CLA with some kind of halogen base system. That's what they've been testing with for the past couple of months. Frankly, it seems silly, considering what you get with the VW Arteon as well as similarly priced but better equipped mid-size sedans like the Accord and Camry.

It's not going to be a super-expensive option, but we're not blown away by design either. The headlight unit itself is unnecessarily big, drawn with simple swooping lines and a kink at the bottom.

It's not bad, but a four-door coupe should always have "bite the back of your hand" styling, even if it's not a flagship model. Mercedes are playing it a little safe, as the CLA doesn't have a single stand-out feature. You know... the kind you can spot from a mile away or at night.

Porsches have connected taillights, the Dacia Duster has Jeep taillights, and the Skoda Octavia is like a Chinese copy of an E-Class. But the CLA might get lost in the car park if you don't order it in a bright color.

You have to wonder what the business case for the CLA II was like. I mean, they already have a sedan version of the A-Class too. Why not go wild with the styling and impress everybody with their entry-level coupe?

At least the prototype has got a good engine. The AWD system and cross-drilled brakes suggest we're dealing with the CLA 250 or something along those lines. Mercedes is also planning to have 190 horsepower diesels in it, so we could be dealing with one of those here as well.

Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Spied Up Close Looking Smooth And Sleek

Mercedes' compact performance sedan will pack over 400 hp, and there will be a hotter S version.
Take a very good look at the upcoming Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 because these shots are our best view yet of the upcoming performance sedan. If the recently unveiled A-Class four-door isn't quite stylish enough for you, then this is the Mercedes to check out.

Mercedes can't fully disguise the CLA 45's front end because the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder needs cool air to run properly. Therefore, this test mule has a mesh panel over the lower fascia on the passenger side, and you can catch a glimpse of the slats in the intake behind it. The engineers conceal this section on the driver side. The egg-crate grille looks cool, but this is likely a placeholder piece for a bar going across the front. Canted headlights with LEDs on the top make the car look like it has an angry squint.
The camouflage does a good job of hiding the styling, but there's obvious sculpting along the lower section of the body in profile. A sleek roof covers occupants, and it appears that there are very large glass panels for providing lots of light in the cabin.

At the tail, a subtle spoiler incorporates into the trunk lid. Skinny taillights echo the shape of the illumination in front. The lower fascia wraps around the quad exhaust outlets, and there's a diffuser separating them.

Power for the CLA 45 will come from an all-new 2.0-liter turbo that will pump out over 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), and it'll route through a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system. Mercedes Marketing Manager Dominik Greuel confirms 45 and 45 S versions of the A-Class, and this suggests similar variants for the CLA. The top variant might feature an extra boost from an electric drive motor and an electric turbocharger.

The current speculation puts the standard CLA's debut in 2019. The AMG variants won't likely be part of the lineup at launch, so we'll have to be patient before seeing these high-horsepower compact sedans in showrooms.

This is about as good as you can make a small FWD car look IMO. Can't wait to see this. Now it becomes clear as to what the look will be vs the A-Class sedan. This is a baby CLS.

Its looking already better than the current CLA. Definitely a junior CLS.

That would be dissspointing as it would leave Mercedes without an entry level family car. VAG have the Q2 and Tiguan.

Maybe I confused with the CLA and CLS report

CLA shootingbrake is actually popular in the UK and I guess with the A sedan now it makes more sense to have the wagon or shootingbrake.

If the CLA35 with say 300ish hp comes in under 45K with a nice fitment of options, it will be winner. The A-Class interior is going to win over a lot of younger buyers and hopefully this time Mercedes has the ride sorted out. The current CLA rides like a dump truck.
