Plug-in hybrid version coming in 2017
Instagram user Dames has published a photo with an invite to today's special private unveiling of the Bentley Bentayga.
The company's first ever crossover has been spied numerous times and there are also a bunch of teaser videos showing us what to expect for what aims to be the fastest and most powerful model in its segment. It will have a lot in common with the new Audi Q7 and is going to be offered from day one with a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbo engine unleashing 608 PS (447 kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft).
Lesser versions are likely getting an upgraded twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter and there also might be a turbodiesel unit which would represent a novelty for the Crewe-based automaker. A year after the model's market launch, a plug-in hybrid derivative is going to join the lineup with a lithium-ion battery pack providing enough electric juice for a zero-emission journey of up to 30 miles (48 km).
In terms of styling, it will be a major departure from the EXP 9 F concept which is a good thing as many said that it looked rather odd. However, the thinly camouflaged prototypes our spy photographers have spotted recently don't look very promising, but hopefully it will look better in production guise. A teaser video published back in early May showed some of the interior cabin which is expected to host individual rear seats.
Taking into account a public debut is slated for mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, we won't be too surprised if Bentley will show us the Bentayga by the end of August. If we are lucky enough, maybe someone will upload some photos from tonight's private reveal in Germany so stay tuned just in case.
