3 Series [Spy shots] 2027 BMW 3-Series (G50)

The BMW 3 series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. BMW's best selling model, it is the successor to the 02 series. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series. The M version of the 3 series, the M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.

It looks too flat. The greenhouse seems kind of awkward, like it rises toward the rear window, which usually doesn’t look great from inside. And those thick pillar covers between the windows feel out of place with the otherwise sleek, flat design.

I wonder why BMW seems to love putting the reversing lights on a such stupid place (right behind the towing hitch) like what we see now. Reversing lights located as low as this will make problems when reversing with a small trailer (which do not have reversing lights - at least in the Scandinavia), having the towing hitch folded out, in winter time when the rear bumper is covered with snow etc.

The reverse light is not for you, but for others. Who cares if the reverse light is obstructed in this very specific situation? It’s not like it matters to the actual driver..

The only thing that is not pleasing at the front is the hood shut line, reminds me of the same like in the 7-series.

No shit. Of course they are for others and therefore it is idiotic that it is placed so that it will often be hidden from other road users. It's a useful feature like the brake and turn signals - which is also useful for others. ;)

If you're not going to care about not seeing the reversing light, they might as well have dropped the reversing light altogether. What a stupid conclusion.

What a stupid conclusion.

Yeah, go whine about the most specific of situations. That will help.

Yeah because you go drive in reverse with a trailer on public roads in the winter with snow. What utter nonsense. Just take some extra care while reversing for 10 seconds.

Going through your post history is showing me that all you do here is bitch and moan. What negative BS point can you think of next?

Unfortunately, I can't blame you for not seeing that completely trivial, everyday situations in traffic/in a parking lot or whatever will create unnecessary chaos with a reversing light that no one sees. You obviously live in a country where there is only sun and summer (and you certainly don't do reversing), and then I see why you don't experience this as a problem. As for me, I live in a country where it is dark half the year and snow half the time. In line with the function of brake lights, daytime running lights and turn signals, reversing lights provide valuable information to fellow road users. Plain and simple.

It's good that you take the time to browse through my post history. Congratulations on that. As a true BMW enthusiast/fanboy (I currently own five in the age range 1948-2024 and I've been running a BMW retrofit company for over 10 years) I feel entitled to be able to criticize when things develop negatively. Cost cutting and the removal of BMW elements and identity is just sad and deserves to be commented on. I'll also be the first to comment on something good, when BMW also delivers something good. If you're looking for a place where we cuddle and hug each other and nod in agreement about everything, I suggest you seek out a church or other places where you can do that.

Seen the prototype in real life. It’s very Guilia-ish.

I suppose that is one reason that I am looking so forward to the first official images of the production NA0 i3 sedan. The dawn of the future BMW design paradigm. And I suspect that said future could be exciting indeed. The G50 appears more of a swansong to me.
