3 Series [Spy shots] 2027 BMW 3-Series (G50)

The BMW 3 series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. BMW's best selling model, it is the successor to the 02 series. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series. The M version of the 3 series, the M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.
How can anyone be defending the positioning of the reverse lights being so low? The purpose of that light is to warn other people, and that’s like the worst place to put it in order to do that. My Lucid has it there too, it makes no sense, just simply bad design.

How to make an elephant out of a fly
There is no reason to defend it, just as there is no reason to be against it. It's just....there. On a safe place legally allowed everywhere.

The reverse lights are on the very bottom of the car? where those 2 circles are?
If yes, then it can be and will be an issue, since the world is an SUV world now..so the angle is even steeper

Yes, in the middel, hidden by the towing hitch.

Yeah and that one time where you reverse for 5 seconds during a snowstorm while pulling a trailer should work out just fine.

I'd be posting on Bimmerpost or BMWblog if that were the case. I'm just pointing out your non stop bitching and moaning.

You're not in a parking lot with a trailer.
So unfortunately, I do blame you for creating a non existent issue.
Oh my God. Blah blah blah. Of course you're in a parking lot with a trailer? Where do you put the trailer when you're traveling with one? Do you put it in the backpack? Bike racks, storage boxes and other equipment are also completely trivial and everyday equipment to see on a car. BMW has made a problem out of something that has never been a problem. The placement is just bad. End of discussion.

I think there is a reason to be against it considering there is a better solution that has been used for decades. A lot of things are legally allowed doesn't mean it makes sense (touch screen controls for everything is a good example).

Reverse lights on bumpers or on the rear valance are my biggest design pet peeve. And in the last 15+ years, it has spread like the effing plague. Oh, I hate sooooo much.

1) Not in the line of sight, especially when I am about to back out in out from a parking space in a parking and I am using the rear view mirror to see if anyone behind me is about to back out too.
2) It's just looks cheap. Reminds me of when they had them on econoboxes and rusted out cars and half the time one or both were broken in.

Just for the record; I too much prefer reverse lights within the rear light unit. So in that sense we don’t even disagree.

Duh?

They model the ICE after the BEV. The G50 looks like the NA0/1, not the other way around. Hence the hood shut line.

This is the 3-Series G50 thread, and the discussion was about the shut line on the 3-Series G50, with reference to spy photos of the 3-Series G50. I guess I should have realised then, that when you referred to "the BMW", you were talking about the i3 NA0. And the point you were making is that the design of the G50 is inspired by the design of the i3, hence the shutline is how it is.

My wife also has a habit of throwing me the basic elements of a sentence and leaves me to finish constructing it myself.

Yes you are right, but I thought that was kinda obvious.

...although a frunk is not necessarily a given in dedicated BEVs. Cases in point are the VAG MEB cars and the M-B EQE/EQS vehicles. I imagine that this will be corrected in these cars successors.

But whatever...I'm looking very forward to these new BMW NKL lines of BEV vehicles.

It's not a given with the Germans for sure, and I don't even think a frunk for the NA0 confirmed. But the iX3 frunk is at least confirmed for be roughly 60 liters, and I absolutely think the sedan will have one too.

In any case, the hood shutline screams frunk to me. But it indeed doesn't have to be a frunk per say. MB cars have started this new shutline design, and those cars come with a big ICE up front. Nevertheless, this design to me is vastly superior than the old straight line shutline as seen on Bimmers that came with it before.
