Spy Shots [Spy shots] BMW Neue Klasse Coupe

I doubt this has a potential to be green lighted.

They need to build first the base lineup of EV‘s as an alternative to the current stinker products, the last what they need is another 8er, XM flop as an EV.
The fact that it's wearing camo and is being driven out in the open suggests that it's an actual car, not a dummy concept. If I have understood it correctly, the iNext will be the base car and this coupe will be a reskinned version of whatever EV equivalent to the M3/M4 that BMW are developing.

Stop calling the NK cars iNext for crying out loud. It's confusing and wrong.

Help me out.

What are the differences between NK and Vision Dee?

Yeah, Vision Dee featured the e-Ink exterior and emoting windows. Vision Neue Klasse is more the standard 'Vision' car that's twice removed from what we will end up getting in the production car.

So are the NEXT line abandoned in favour of NK?

Vision NEXT 100 was a series of concept cars from each of the group companies (BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce and Motorrad), to celebrate the founding of the company. They proposed future ideas were not really part of any new model development cycle.

iNEXT & M NEXT were concepts to preview somewhat standalone models, iNEXT became iX and M NEXT became a cancelled project. NEXT, was never itself a plan for a range of models. Beyond that there wasn't really a 'NEXT' line, that came in around the centenary, and then kind of faded.

Neue Klasse, in my opinion, is more of a follow on from Project i, which represented more of a ground up approach to a new model, or new model series.

Is it the production version of the Vision Next?

Sort of. The iM. Based on NK platform. A 4x4 BEV a bit crossoverish sports coupe (it's not your typical supercar since it rides pretty high for a sports car). With Turbo / M1 inspired design, laced with a typical NK styling.

It's going to be a BEV successor to i8, with a hint of X-Coupe Concept general idea, and with some hommage design cues to Turbo / M1 but based on NK platform, tech & styling.

It's a very interesting & again a very polarizing beast. Think of it as of BMW's own "Cybertruck". It's even more bonkers than XM. But it would be nice owning both of them.

If rumors are true, the 8er name will become available. So this could very well be the next 8er. And kill the XM in the process too.

As per may info it's going to be an M-engineered vehicle. And the iM trademark has been mulled over for quite some time at BMW now. i8M? i8? iM? M8? I'm not familiar with the final moniker decision (if even already made).

iM and iM1 make the most sense.
So it is indeed greenlit for production?
Any idea when we can expect a reveal and if not too early to say start of production?
