X5 [Spyshots] Next generation BMW X5 (3rd gen) 2015?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
One of the essential parts of BMW AG's "Number ONE" cost-cutting strategy is also the very extensive part sharing ... which also leads to design similarities & evolutionary design approach. Unfortunately. Modular designs = similar design. Especially when it comes to interior.

OK, perhaps some cars will have black plastic buttons, other galvanized metallic ... But don't expect Bangle-like revolution soon. At least until modular solutions aren't fully introduced. The trend is now towards tons of different vehicles that share much (similar designs with different characters in different vehicle shapes) - so, away from Bangle era where design difference was a part of the vehicle's character, therefore designs were more individual.

Regarding the interior design ... current theme is here to stay. Expect evolution, not revolution. But some new functionalities will be introduced, and consequently the form will follow the function. But in very evolutionary way. Some details will be redesigned & "new" ... but as said: evolutionary. And there will be even more layering.

Be focused on BMW i cars - to see some upcoming trends. And then the new 7er ...

But I'm sure ... with rivals upping the game ... BMW will have to follow with better perceived quality - meaning more flashy materials ... I guess some current Individual features will become regular option or even standard in some models. While new Individual features will introduce some stuff RR do offer in eg. Ghost & Wraith.

I've said in previous post there are big differences in the "Lines/Models" regarding the Rear Hatch area on the F15 X5. This photo speaks for itself. The Green (Front Car) almost looks like a Shooting Brake version of the F15 X5 vs the White (Rear Car). No trick photo...straight up shot. We'll see.......Thanks. PalBay

Agreed. The angle is the same. The only reason it looks slightly different is because of the proximity to the camera, and part of the lower window is blocked.

Yup, I don't see a difference in angle. It's not even possible to have a different angle because the rest of the car is exactly the same. It has nothing to do with 'lines' or 'models', it's just an optical illusion.

The 'shooting brake' version of the X5 will be the X6, and not an X5 with slightly different rear deck (which it does not have).

Yes he is persistent with this one. Which does make me wonder. But I have been looking at the pics since last night, and while it does look like they have a different angle in some pics, it is always a case of angle, lighting and other visual trickery (to me). My conclusion is that every F15 looks the same from the outside.

I'm just putting this one out there but is it possible that there's a difference between the 5 and 7 seater versions?

^I agree though in my opinion its the only logical reason why having a steeper slope would be beneficial. Anyhow its Palbay who's stating its reality.

Where's the two types of wood, surely this are pics of the same car?

I don't care what type of wood is used, all I want/need to know is whether some form of adaptive suspension will be present on the new X5.

I don't like the free standing screen. Looks like Audi A7 and I would suspect it to hide but it doesn't. Stupid.

Great pics, Palbay!
Thanks very much. I've viewed the F15 X5..... second only in number of sightings to BMW employees. Interesting that Enl or Scott27 has not denied the existence of very different rear hatches on the F15 X5. As I've stated in previous post we'll see and time will tell.PS...I did not say the front (Green Car) WAS a Shooting Brake version of the F15 X5....I said it resembled a shooting brake design in the rear hatch area of the car. I'm not aware of 2 types of tail door design. Haven't heard of it ever / yet. Perhaps different design has something to do with 3rd row seats option but I doubt it.

IMHO it's just an optical illusion due to masking tape. Looking at the shadows I see no difference in roof line and steepness of rear tail window etc. Nor the D-pillar in the photo is any different IMO.

Thanks....Appreciate the input. I've seen what I've seen. I've viewed BMW Camo'ed prototypes for over 10 years from every conceivable angle possible. There are several rear hatch designs floating around. Will be interesting to see what makes it to production. Thanks. PalBay
