Ferrari, despite mixed reviews I thoroughly enjoyed it, great period piece of the days when race drivers did not know if they’d live to see the next day. Solid 8/10 for me.

Watched Foe on Prime. Dystopian oddball drama which is best described as depressing. It’s also fairly drawn out. 7/10 only because of Saoirse Ronan’s compelling and sensual performance.

Dune - Part Two

9.5/10.0 - a cinematic spectacle that does justice to its billing as an epic - sci-fi or not. Nearly 3 hours feels like half that.

I couldn’t agree more. Saw it on opening night, blew my socks off.

Dune - Part 2 a.k.a. 'It's all about the bass'
Finally got around to seeing it. So good. My only regret was not seeing it on an IMAX screen.

I hope Villeneuve eventually does an adaptation of Dune: Messiah. I'd love to see a conclusion of sorts.

Road House - Prime Video - pretty solid reboot - 7/10 - Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor make for an entertaining smackfest with pretty convincing fight sequences.

As I said after seeing the first one. I'm really not a fan of the IMAX experience, but then I've not seen either in a normal screen. I watched Oppenheimer in a smaller local cinema and I didn't think the audio/visual experience suffered (overall) much for it in terms of scale or volume -- and the seats are way better in my local cinema.

I don't know the books, but compared to the ending of Lynch's Dune film, it's absolutely set up for Holy Wars as a part 3.

I've only seen two movies on an IMAX screen and that was over 10 years ago: The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. I didn't think it added anything significant to the visual or the aural experience. With the latter, that's more of Nolan issue regarding his particular brand of sound mixing.

But with Dune 2, the expansive Arrakis desert scenes and arena scene on Geidi Prime would look amazing on an IMAX screen. That said, I am sure the technology has also advanced since I saw TDKR. I saw Oppenheimer on standard screen, and while I wouldn't have mind experiencing it on IMAX, the Dune movies with their sweeping landscape shots would really capitalize on it.

It has to be a trilogy.

I hope so. The way it was left off, it is BEGGING for a conclusion. I think Villeneuve mentioned he wants to venture off to do something else before he decides to circle back to the Dune saga since this project has consumed him since 2017, and something he has thought about since he read the book as a teen.
He also mentioned that he wants to stew on it some more because a) he wants the script and movie to be even better than Part 2 and b) wants the actors age up a little. My concern is that I hope Mr. Walken is still with us so he can continue on as the Emperor, but not being too familar with the books, I am not sure how much presence he has for Dune: Messiah. Plus, I just love Christopher Walken.

Yeah, I don't like the IMAX screen at cinemas or on a home TV. Disney+ streams films in IMAX and I don't see the benefit over 16:9.

Civil War.

Go in cold, leave any expectations at the door. It's very close to being a great film, but on a scale of 0 to 10, where 5 is average, it's a 7.5. It doesn't nail what it's going for quite as well as some of the films that seem to have inspired it, which is a shame since the premise is in many ways far more engaging. I'm being a little cryptic, because as I say, go in cold.

In todays World where you are batted left right and centre with A I. There is nothing more better than sinking into a classic. & JAWS 3-D is a classic if we remove the “JAWS” elements you are left with just Sharks attack Sea World. Pure B-Movie Schlock. Also by his own admission actor Dennis Quaid says he was high on cocaine everyday he was filming.
Although this upscale 4K version should have the best picture quality as you would expect.
But it seems in the race to upgrade the scale. They utilised AI for additional enhancement which is transparently noticeable with AI’s multiple flaws.
