Man, that AMG is a speed rocket ship indeed. The only minor gripe is the tranny.
Other than that it is a clear winner. E63, hands down!

Over 600hp for the E63, that is believable for those numbers. The BMW M5's reign is just over, AMG has really got their number and unlike various Audis, the AWD hasn't made the AMGs dull and lifeless to drive.

I must say after sitting in and looking around the new E-class it really is a wonderful machine, though they aren't throwing the kind of discounts BMW are over here which is a shame.

So the AMG got more power, lower weight and AWD but still is barely quicker from standstill. Weird! Would be intresting to know the result from rolling start.
Also want to know how close E63 PP RWD is to the AWD version.

I'm fully aware of that but I'm just talking about speed. And clearly you guys agree with my observations, considering your reactions.
For the record I dont care much which one is the best, since its subjective, they are too heavy and big for my taste.

I've been preaching the benefits of AWD for most of my driving life though it's rare to find it offering better steering unless they are determining less weight as meaning better. Not at all surprised the ride has deteriorated with the Competition Pack as you can't improve handling without effecting ride when weight remains the same.

Is AMG a better allround package in general? Not so sure, maybe on this occasion but I doubt this sentiment would hold true for the RWD version as it's sure to suffer more than the M5 having so much more torque.

^ I also have been saying for donkey years that Mercedes AMG should utilise the 4-Matic system as a performance-enhancing system.

It is ridiculous how the SL65, S65, and CL65 still do not have AWD.

PS: Before the CP I'd go with the E63 every single time. Now it's the M5 CP for me. It fixes the little flaws.
As I said a million times this car has just the right weight. I like the heavy feel in a luxury limo.

Thoughts? I just gave you mine. Those guys are morons. Testing two of those cars and then go to some parking lot for half the time, and the other half of the time on some dyno. LOL

These guys know nothing.

You are talking about data like quicker in acceleration/in-gear/lap times etc but what I am talking about is preferring one over another based on how they drive, that is the subjective part.

It's only when you own these caliber of cars do you realise that none of them are inferior to the next as they are all incredible.

You do know that these to whom you rank as shit motoring journalists are not the only ones who said they like the E63 over the M5..

Even respected ones said that the M5 lacks steering feel, and so on, while the AMG is great..

So this aint some isolated report right here.

I find it funny how you (bmw guys) brush this under the rug like meh..crap journalists, its not so much quicker since the M5 is rwd and so on and so forth.

Truth of the matter is that the E63 is a couple of years older than the M5, and still it is the faster, it is the one that is more sporting and connected to drive, all in all it can be said that the once so overwhelming gap the M5 had to the competition is no more, in fact it does not even exist any longer.

I aint brushing anything , I just observed that E63 isnt much quicker despite being more powerful and with added AWD. The guys in the video noticed the same thing. My guess the reason for the M5 to accelerate so fast is thanks to the superior gearbox. So instead of attacking me, just admit the difference should be greater.

And guys dont forget that I had my complaints toward the new M5 since it was first presented. In terms of driving the previous M5 is superior compare to the new one. And yes the new E63 is big step compare to previous E63. BMW went back and MB forward. I'm nervously waiting to see the upcoming M4 being tested.

PS there is a reason why I went with another carbrand this time.
