WRX 2014 Subaru WRX

The Subaru WRX is an all-wheel drive sport compact car manufactured by the Subaru, originally based on the Impreza created for the World Rally Championship in 1992. Subaru claimed the name WRX stands for "World Rally eXperimental". Starting with the 2015 models, the WRX lineup has been split from the Impreza, with a different body style that is not offered as an optional hatchback/wagon, being introduced as the separate Levorg model.
Oh Levi, always in your imaginary world of how you perceive things about cars.

How much time have you spent in any WRX? Then gone and driven an M car? The proper RWD ones that the WRX is supposedly a threat to? Man, you couldn't get a more different driving experience out of two brands if you tried.

Your typical M car buyer is not looking for anything remotely like what a WRX has to offer. And the M-brand is not threatened by such a small player either; not M-Sport and not full fat ///M.

Come on Levi, we get it that you love this concept and indeed it looks very good, but even Martin who's our resident Subaru enthusiast is telling you that a WRX will never be a threat to BMW M.

It could be a rip off. It could be over-done. It could be anything. What I do know is that, it's a stunner!! Love it.

To my narrow knowledge or close car-enthusiast friends the term WRX-hater term does not exists. Everyone I know aspire to the car since it's birth. Never was the best looking but had so much to aspire to.

Now, with Concept Identical lanches of late (CLA; A3 Sedan and upcoming 4er) for the enthusiast/petrol head I do hope the decision makers that are at the helm of SUBARU follow suit of the pre-mentioned manufacturers and deliver the car as is seen here. Will be a runaway success for the brand. This is IMO not just a mere good looking car it's beautiful!

So WRX is closer than we thought. Anyway, I can sleep in peace this night and forget about the WRX. Where has all the energy of the concept gone? Into to the front bumper? Looks like they are pursuite of Mercedes' CLA record of the longest front overhang.
Indeed the WRX will be no threat to any BMW now.

WTF?

Back to our Audi RS3 Sedan and M2 GranCoupé...

Ha ha ha - a million miles away from the impossible-to-achieve WRX concept! Just look at that front overhang, the front glass quarterlight and the much deeper side DLO. The sheetmetal to wheel ratio is off already. It'll be ok looking by Subaru standards but far from the magnificent potential of the WRX concept. A car-lovers' cock tease if there ever was one.

This is going to look as intimidating as a stock Mitsubishi Lancer...

Basically it will have a non existent presence

Sigh....massive sigh....Subaru.....It is clear that the company still has some talented people left in the design department, however something has gone horribly wrong between the process of designing the concept car and transferring it into a production model. So much for doing something more different and sharing minimal body panels with the standard Impreza. Why do they even bother with creating the concept car when the production WRX is no different from the past formula?

Why does Subie even release concept cars? It's like they are saying "We want do this. You want us to do this. But we can't so we won't. But we will mess with you. So here it is, cheers!" Stop messing with me, Subaru!

The thing that you see running around in these spyphotos is straight imprezza bodywork. Don't let them fool you. I hope that Subaru doesn't go that route, I want to say I doubt it, but what would those doubts be based on. I would rather keep this post factual.

According to some this is not the definitive WRX. It is just a WRX hardware on an Impreza, whereas the real WRX will not be a tuned Impreza like it always had been. Hopefully that is true and the real Impreza will be closer to the concept.

Who's the some it's according to? Your mysterious sources again?

The car in the scratchy wallpaper is the new WRX STI. The WRX Concept is a decade away from reality. Anyone who truly understands the make-up of the brand will know that, implicitely, the WRX Concept is not achievable with current Subaru running gear.
