M2 BMW M2 [official thread]

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
^they both look better to start with :)

But i would pick the BMW i don't like FWD cars..

The Audi is easly the best looking of the 3

Reserving judgement but if those prices and limited run info are correct, WTF?

I don't know why they wouldn't be correct? This issue was prepared in advance of the normal publication day, which is tomorrow. They will have likely received their info from BMW UK.

What has tweaked my interest is the "limited production numbers of less than 500 for the UK".

7:58 AT RING IS OK TO ME...but Manual version heavier than DCT?
I am probably too tired to understand…

  • US Curb Weight: 3450 lbs (DCT) / 3505 (MT)

It's not. Use your common sense. How would that work exactly?

The official figures are (EU1):

1,570kg (6-speed manual)
1,595kg (7-speed M DCT)

Is the M2 the relative sleeper of the current M lineup? No unpainted CF roof or M specific side mirrors.

No but the rest looks pretty radical with the pretty extreme bumpers, flared fenders, quad exhaust and big rims.
Not really sleeper imo.

So I was correct about the weight. 1,570kg EU1.

Blimey. That's one heavy beast.

Mercedes AMG A45 weighs 1555 kg EU
Audi RS3 1595 kg EU

So in between it's main rivals. Not great, but no heavy beast either.

RELATIVE sleeper! I was trying to highlight how over-the-top M styling has become.
Totally agree, a bit over the top.

Maybe in black with matte black exhaust tips and debadged, most people will think they are looking at a simple cute BMW coupe.

I'm loving this thing, wonder how it would look in 4 door trim.

It's a bit heavy though, heavier than my Volvo even, WTF?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
