M2 BMW M2 [official thread]

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
Interesting. Spied today. M2 with camouflage roof, bonnet, front splitter and rear spoiler...

I could see it being a M2 CS, based on the visual cues from the M4 CS... but there doesn't look to be enough going on there for a CSL.

The Mx > Competition > CS pattern is established and there ought to be no precedent involving the CSL moniker.

As I said in the other thread already. I was expecting much better laptime. Only 3 seconds faster than Z4 M40i. I think as great as this car is, it's too heavy.

Will the M2 CS finally bring in the Adaptive M Suspension for the M2?

I would *guess* not, as that is quite a major change to the chassis for what will be a very low production model. I would expect the CS to get a lot of items from the M Performance catalogue, combined with a power bump (circa 425hp), and then a hefty price tag to match.

It would have the same number of buyers with or without Adaptive M suspension, so why go to the trouble of developing it? Sadly that is the way of the modern world. Most decisions made in the boardroom by looking at a financial spreadsheet.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'm reasonably sure that the adaptive suspension could be added, most of the rest of the suspension seems fairly interchangeable between the M4 and M2, and it would provide a useful differentiator between a CS model and a standard model.

Personally I'm not a fan of this mixing and matching of pars options to create new 'badges'.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
