This transition time makes all the model naming a bit awkward ...
How will BMW model designations look like in 20 years from now, when the last ICE has died? We are still taking 320, 340, 530, ...?

I think there is no need to maintain the traditional nomenclature. It is a new era in parallel with the current one, so time to build up a new image. The is no relation between both. There can be some exceptions like M badge, 911, Mustang or some iconic names, but it is the minority and not an issue at BMW, Audi or Mercedes. Even the S Class is dead.

330 HZ?330 MW? or 330 Lumens:LOL:

Stolen from motor1. :sneaky: There's a weird sensor on one of the mules.

Starts to look better and better. Curious about the actual size: Motor1 mentions inbetween X3/X5 but looks larger. Similarly curious about the new grille, kind of material and color they will use. Will cause quite a stir once released I guess.

Ah there was a press release for the Grille recently.

Not being aware of the iNEXTs' exterior dimensions, I couldn't say whether it will compete against VAGs' ID4 + derivatives. But purely on the basis of visual appeal so far, I'm preferring the VAGs'.

This is going to be at least two times more expensive than the ID4

...and after having seen the first offcial images of the Skoda Enyaq, the iNEXT has lost all possible relevance for me.
I am quite impressed with the Enyaq too but why do you keep comparing Enyag and iNext? Would you do the same for Kodiaq and X5?

The iNext will have much greater range than the Enyaq, will be BMW‘s forerunner in autonomous driving, will have charging speeds of more than 300kw and will be way more luxurious.

So in my opinion the Enyaq is a very good BEV allowing families to go all electric while the iNext is BMW‘s flagship for technology and luxury playing in a whole different league.

Will the iNEXT be considerably larger than the Enyaq ? I'm not at all familiar with the iNEXTs' exterior/interior dimensions, but the Enyaq is a relatively large vehicle (4650mm in length and 1880mm in width). In terms of range, the top spec battery configurations will offer between 460 and 515km (WLTP) respectively which, for me, would be sufficient. Especially in light of a (hopefully) rapid expansion of quick-charge networks here in Germany and the rest of the EU.

In essence, I guess I'm just attempting to articulate my skepticism regarding the "value for money" equation. While prices for the Enyaq (not to mention the iNEXT) have yet to be disclosed, I reckon that BMWs' offering will be considerably more expensive. Will it provide considerably more content ?

In the end, I'm rambling subjective perceptions pertaining to my personal considerations. Diehard brand fans will, of course, not consider anything other than the BMW. And should the iNEXT offer a top of the line 700km range option, I suppose that this will be quite the valid argument for North American customers who are reknown for their long-distance road trips. Neither being a specific brand fanperson (well, save Porsche) nor residing in North America, these considerations are of secondary interest to me.

*post scriptum: I've just noticed that should the iNEXT be close to the X5 in size, it indeed is a good bit larger than the Enyaq. It didn't appear to me that way when viewing some in traffic prototype spyshots.

looks like the iNext will keep the iDrive knob.
It's the best that can happen.
The interface through iDrive is far from being surpassed; with touch screens your attention is divided by executing three actions, while with iDrive you only execute two, it is much more intuitive
