E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

It has quite a good initial take off with a 3.3sec 0-60kmh time and 4.5sec to 80kmh.

It's as heavy as an M5 or are we going to ignore this?

Insanity and moronic.

Is the E63 officially dead? I don’t recall seeing spy shots yet. MB seems to be making big marketing push on the E53 as well.

If it’s dead it’ll be yet another clientele abandonment for those who want V8 AMGs.

Most likely coming with the facelift and the all new V8. And with most likey I mean best possible outcome, 'cause who knows?

What was to be expected from a normal 6 point diesel in this class? Like 1900 kg tops? WTF is with this weight?
Well yes the E450d is indeed about 1900-2000kg. But this is a PHEV with 100km of range.

The 550e is about 2200kg
The E300de is about 2200kg

It's about what is expected from a PHEV and it's not unique to Mercedes.

I can really believe the sales figures difference between this and the 5er. The E-Class I see around in Madrid are mainly Ubers and taxis. The 5er is a more regular sight.

The 5er is a fair bit cheaper. So this isn't all that surprising. That having been said, I'm seeing more and more of them around London

Same here in my region of northwestern Germany. The i5 appears to be a popular company car for upper level managers employed by "high tech" firms, a good number of which being situated in my vicinty. I'm also seeing an increasing number of Audi A6 etron Avants, which I imagine are also company cars.

Ironically I'd actually say here in the UK I see more E200, E220d and 520i around in my areas. Presently I see more EQEs than i5s, but the number of i5s I see is increasing.

I reckon the base models and the pricing of the base models is what shifts them for people who don't get company cars.

This is an interesting drag race. New E53 vs W213 E63S vs W212 E63S

I appreciate these "Savage Geese" videos. Very informative with little if any compliantly appeasing B.S.

In this particular case of the AMG E53 sedan, could the verdict somehow, at least remotely, insinuate that perhaps a fully electric drivetrain would actually be more authentic and less compromising after all ? It seems that the PHEV interplay involving the ICE and e-motor is far from ideal, involving an overabundance of overly complicated tech that confuses the intended character of the car. Making it a "Jack Of SOME Trades, A Master Of Few and A Novice Of Few", The AMG.EA drivetrain would seem to be a shoe-in for future AMG E-Class sedans, perhaps with the volume turned a bit down vis-a-vis the soon to be officially presented full-fat 4 door GT.

Plugin hybrid are good when the software calibration between engine, gearbox and electric motors is executed well.

The good news is, the issues can be fixed via software.
I think the brake pedal behaviour is this bizarre intentional decision that Mercedes makes for combining recuperation and friction braking. They're trying to make it a paradigm shift, but it doesn't work.

This is not true.

Always by products for what they are. Not what they could be. Software can be harder than software.

A business might launch a software but then lose the staff that developed it or don't want to repay the licence fee or consultancy for development software. This is especially true if the software stack includes different service providers or tools.

With cars, they usually fix issues by addressing them in the succeeding model that they want you to buy.
