That is not comparable. Looks like even the 'Internet Car Enthusiast' is dead. Now it is all about specsheet horsepower number, 0-100 acceleration, size/space bigger better, smartphone connectivity and UI, and listprice. All the rest went to the bin.

Surely funkier and more cutting edge (read less boring) than the Yaris, true.

Family cars surely not, you're right, but when it comes to purpose built sportier cars (the Celicas, Supras, GT86 etc) Toyota are pretty impressive

OK so I won't replace my car with this, then my girlfriend and the kid would complain about lack of practicality.

Good decision. It's not a good family car - it's more of a plaything for singles / couples who don't need the space. Boot is tiny too.
If you need practicality too, buy a GTI or equivalent.

The way Sweden and our damn goverment are going a fun car isn't going to be cheap to own anymore. They want us to buy electrical/hybrids.
If you buy a new car with diesel or petrol they add some expensive penalties like super high taxes and high fuel prices. From a motoring point of view sweden is killing it for me and others like me who like to drive something fun.

Yeah - it's rough man. Hard to make any suggestions as I know little about cars, prices, taxes etc in Sweden. Even down here in SA a new car that fulfills the whole brief of being good to drive and still usable on a daily basis is expensive. I'm lucky in the sense that I have a company car through my business and was able to buy an older low mileage car for fun driving. For me, the sweet spot would be electric for business/family urban use and then an old-fashioned limited-use car for fun on the weekends. But two cars is even more expensive and not everyone has that luxury and "good" electric is incredibly limited in choice over here.
