Supra [Official] Toyota Supra (J29/DB)

The Toyota Supra is a sports car and grand tourer manufactured and developed by the Toyota Motor Corporation beginning in 1978. The name "supra" is a definition from the Latin prefix, meaning "above", "to surpass" or "go beyond". The 5th generation of the Supra is assembled alongside the G29 BMW Z4 in Graz, Austria by Magna Steyr.

The 2020 Toyota Supra didn't, unfortunately, light the enthusiast world on fire. While a new Toyota sports car is always welcome, the fact is, the Supra is a thinly disguised BMW Z4 with a fixed roof. Furthermore, it wasn't exactly finely tuned out of the box. For 2021, Toyota has re-programmed all computers, from the ECU to the ESC, the differential, adaptive dampers and gearbox, plus changed the bump stops to hopefully improve the bump-steer situation. The changes are substantial, but is that enough to make the Supra lustworthy?

^^
The supra is a GT Sportscar, not a quintessential sports car. Criticising it for falling short on track is pointless.

It's a car that's easy to make yours. Anyone who's want it to perform better on track or be more like a sportscar will ditch the stock suspension for KW V3 coilovers or similar.

For everyone else it's a competent allrounders that is highly engaging but fluid and can be a docile cruiser when required.

Why is the A110 death trap?
I'd say it has something to do with it performing poorly at km77's moose test.

Other than that, I'd say this is a very nasty attempt to stir the post with controversial content, when it's about an almost universally praised car!

4 cylinder Supra is a joke. Especially for the high price and heavy weight. GT86 is a better choice.

Upcoming Toyota Supra GRMN Will Get the 510-HP BMW M3 Engine: Report

JULY 10, 2020

The most common gripe with the fifth-generation Supra is not a lack of power, but the lack of a manual transmission. It's a bit odd, but I suppose still welcome, that our second-place prayers for an even faster Supra may soon be answered. The Japanese-language publication Best Car Web reports (first flagged by Motor1) that the long-rumored Toyota Supra GRMN will receive the new M3's twin-turbo S58 six-cylinder, good for 510 horsepower.

I will believe it when I see it , although there's no...
The DCT doesn't make sense for the Supra. The ZF8 is more reliable and can handle alot of power.

Other than that it's well expected that the S58 will make it under the hood of the Supra at some point during its life time.

I am skeptical that BMW would allow Toyota to use an engine found in their M cars, but I don't know the terms of their partnership, so there's that. If they do, that's a veeerrrry interesting proposition...especially considering the Z4 doesn't use it nor have I heard rumors of that possibility.

I think the Supra's 15 minutes of fame are over. The 718 GTS and new Corvette are more interesting and the new M4 and M240idue next year will be the final nail in the coffin.

Given that die hard fan boys have already bought a Supra, some of whom are pissed off by the MY2021 update, it will be interesting to watch how sales progress in 2021.

I hope Toyota will give the GR86 a turbo version, with the Zupra being such a failure.

Turbo for the GT86 is given and I am very excited about the model. It will probably be more quintessentially Toyota inside and out, and will be priced significantly better than the Supra.
