Not sure about pricing in Europe. But in US, the GTS package is a rip off.
What you get here with GTS package for $5300 -
But in the GTS, you get the stuff under "Black Race Tex" and "Black Leather" for free anyway -
And I don't care about carbon bits and you can get it anyway separately for way less. So you are paying 5k for red stitching, which I admit can look stunning, but not sure 5k stunning. I would rather put the 5k towards PCCB. Of course all this is par for the course for Porsche.
ps. Congrats. I think the GTS ST is the most stunning rear quarter ever to grace a 4 door. Color me very jealous.
Hi Sunny. I completely agree about it being a rip-off. The carbon bits on the door inserts and the centre console "tunnel" you can barely see, and you still get "GTS" emroidered on the head rest in the standard package too, just not in colour.
However, I need to provide you with the "man maths" (or man "math", as you're American

)...
In Euro, the cost of the GTS interior package is €3,948 (after the 6% discount I've achieved), which makes it $4,052 at current exchange rates. Already I think I've put up a convincing argument.

However, if you spec the coloured seat belts separately, which is what I would have to go for if I didn't spec the interior package, it would be €484 (after the 6% discount), so in fact the price difference is €3,464 "extra" for the interior package. The carbon element you DO see is on the steering wheel, and I think it looks stunning, especially with the inclusion of "GTS" at the bottom, which you don't get on the standard interior. The price IS a lot, but as a percentage of the total cost of the car, it's insignificant. Crucially, once the car has been delivered, I will forget about the extra money the GTS interior package cost. The other way round and not specifying it, I will be reminded every time I get in the car that it doesn't look quite as good as it should, and it definitely need "something" inside to brighten it up. I think Porsche know exactly what they're doing. You can't even specify body coloured interior trim of you go for the standard Race-Tex or the GTS package, which would solve the dour interior dilemma.
I agree about the looks. The Sport Turismo looks superb, but then I also like the sedan. I'm not sure which I prefer, but I went for the ST for two reasons. One, so I can have a change. And two, there's something cool about a fast estate, like the M3 Touring or RS 6. This is no exception. The added practicality with two children is a bonus.
I do remember you posting that you liked Carmine Red. I don't even know if it was the Taycan you were talking about.
Do you have any experience of rear axle steering (RAS), on any car? I have a bit and I find it odd. I'm thinking of specifying on the GTS because a lot of people rave about it?
What about you,
@Mr. Mercedes ? Do you have RAS?
There's some photos on Taycanforum of a Neptune Blue car with a blackberry interior. It really does seem to work! I almost ordered a blackberry interior on my Crayon CT, but was too scared to do so without seeing it in person. Unfortunately as our market is so small we don't really get much opportunity to see unusual colours.
I didn't specify the Neptune Blue car. It was a car that the dealership was allocated by Porsche Germany as part of the launch vehicles. That said, it was very close to what I would have ordered bar a few small bits and pieces and the colour lol.
I would not have considered the the Carmine red interior package. Too 'Superman' with the Neptune Blue exterior IMO, and I think red highlights have been overplayed by most manufacturers in the last 5-7 years, so the Crayon stitching was a nice change. I really do think you will regret not paying the premium for the interior package. I find the standard Racetex interior too sombre without the highlights. Also, not having leather on the dash and doors was just not a consideration for me as I think they add significantly to the 'premium' perception.
You don't even see Blackberry often in Europe. I've only seen it once and had to make a specific trip to Antwerp to see it. In reality it's much darker. I loved it and can't wait to see it on my Dolomite RWD.
I agree about not having leather on the dash and doors, but you get that as standard. You don't have to order the GTS interior package for it. The option only really includes the coloured stitching, carbon elements, coloured seat belts, and the coloured dial on the Sport Chrono clock.
Overnight I've been thinking I might go with the Carmine Interior package rather than chalk. What do you think? I think it would work because the red matches the brake callipers. Also, red and green are complementary colours according to the "colour wheel". It's a myth that they're not. I would appreciate your opinion, however.
Here's some images I had saved when I was doing my due diligence.
I think a full Bramble/Blackberry interior, without the slate grey leather, would have looked fantastic on a Crayon car.
Thanks for the photos. Nice to see how the dark brushed kickplates look with the blackberry.
