M8 [Official] The New BMW M8 Coupé & Convertible (F91 & F92)

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M
I don’t understand people buying performance cars with the roof cut, I guess it is a question of if you want the best performance/handling or to show off...I can’t see it another way....

How did M8 managed to do that lap on P Zero it's just amazing...

There is no chance that the M8 is a great car?
Yes, it is probably a better track car than I and many other expected, but the trend is clear; the tyre technology for normal sports tyre has had an incredebly evolution the past couple of years

Yes, the incredebly tyre evolution lately is a big factor here

Not only this! We are talking about relative performance to other more extreme/pure sportscars with tyres from the same generation! Nobody thought, that the M8 would be more than 2 sec faster than the M5 CP with same drivetrain and almost same weight! So ///M did some magic to the M8! Just look at the time table at the end! M8 manages to beat fully fledged sportscars with semi slicks! This is - at least to me - totally unexpected and I think that a lot of people did vastly underestimate the M8.

We’ve seen better acceleration figures, but man that 99ft 60-0 braking is seriously impressive for a car that big.

Can mods move my and other post to M8 Coupe thread? I made a mistake posting it in Gran Coupe thread.

Autocar have awarded the car 3.5 stars. Their verdict can be summed as:

-It's deficient in urgency and speed sensation in relation to the figures on a spec sheet.
-A 911 is more fun to drive but is nearly as comfortable
-The lesser 8-Series variants are equally good grand tourers.

1988 Opel Corsa GSi gives a sensation of driving at uber dangerous high speeds. Then you wonder...
I learned how to drive in a 1980 Nissan Micra in which the steering wheel vibrated as you approached 62mph. A Hyundai Atos my parents owned had minimal traction during winter and was thrillingly dangerous to explore limits in at legal speeds.

Not only this! We are talking about relative performance...

Late quote, but I fully agree here.
Fantastic result from the M8!

I am wondering which would the time of the M8 Gran Coupé Competition be, given these conditions... Surely slower, but probably not by that much given the platform, which would be insane as well considering the type of car.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
