GLS [Renders] 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS (GL successor)

The Mercedes-Benz GLS, formerly Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, is a full-size luxury crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2006. The GLS is considered the flagship of the marque's SUV lineup, although the body-on-frame G-Class (originally intended for military off-roading but also offered in luxurious trims) is more expensive and has been in production longer.

Soon, I hope!
But I’m guessing it is slated for the model year 2019, which means probably mid 2018.

They’re certainly under a lot of pressure to get it upgraded soon given all the existing and coming competition in the luxury SUV space.

This thing better have a RR level interior to call itself a GLS and be an all new product. The GLE will show us what direction they're going with this generation of SUV interiors.

I second Merc1; Mercedes have no more chance to compromise on the premiumness of the interior & make the new GLS as the real S class grade SUV. How ever I personally feel the G-Class still have the the flagship stance among Star SUVs

Good eye. A LWB version is a sign that @Merc1’s wish for an S-Class level instead of a shoehorned E-Class interior could become true.

I said that months ago, that this is some type of longer version, cause it's freaking huge lol. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the Maybach version we're seeing.

Anyone who thinks the interior is going to be on par with the S class is delusional. Why change the formula and increase cost when even into its final year(s) of production they can't make enough of them.

Well, because Rolls, Bentley, and soon others have super-luxury interiors in their SUVs, and MB would be foolish to ignore that growing market. it may only be available in the Maybach line though.

That's what I was saying. We've been lying to ourselves frankly. A Maybach trim level will be addition, however, as confirmed.

Look at the previous spy shot below and you'll see it's the same GL formula continuing - same dimensions from the front to the rear doors.

Sadly I think you're right. MB has never seemed intent on class honours when it comes to their SUV's. They just seem to want to do enough to make some decent sales. The whole GL 'S' badging is a cynical farce I believe. I very much doubt they are going to deliver the S-class of SUV's.

It's clear that there isn't a consensus on what the new GLS and G will be. I am going to sit this one out and see how price, engine options and positioning pan out.
