Btw, just recently had the chance to drive a mule. Veeeeery comfortable, much better than its predecessor. Dash virtually identical to the Conti, at least in this particular tester.

Interesting. I thought there was a rumor that the interior would be different from the Conti. I guess that was unsubstantiated and is pretty much baseless.

Had heard that rumor, too. Since the guys I was driving with were from tech dev, they did not know any details. They just assumed (like I do) that there won‘t be major changes that shortly before launch anymore.

Busty, did you have the opportunity to assess the cars' dynamic capabilities, agility, responsiveness ? Are its' exterior dimensions similar to those of its' predecessor (5300mm in length and 1924mm in width aka huge) ? Do you know whether it will be available in SWB and LWB form (the former would be cool !) ?

It really has that old-school vibe to it, from the sharply angled A and B-pillars all the way to the protruding front and rear bumpers. That is something you hardly ever see these days. The "new school" is the short front and rear overhangs, low height and overall sporty stance for a large luxury car. (The perfect combo of old meets new)
If this is sitting on a VAG co-developed Porsche Panamera platform it is going to perform and will probably be the best performing large luxury car without question.

If this is sitting...
I don't think this platform is co-developed. It is developped solely by Porsche and granted to Bentley.

I remember reading this article about the early days of the new Bentley Contintial GT development.
It suggested the Chassie was a joint effort that was mostly taken up by Porsche/ not by Porsche alone.

“MSB is a perfect start for the Continental GT,” said Dürheimer. “It allows, on the design side, a new approach to the matrix and proportions. I’m in love with this car. We had a design presentation and even the people that are not in our core team were speechless. I predict the highest-volume update for the Continental ever.”

With a chassis and powertrain mostly developed by Porsche, the new Continental GT will be something like a present-day Porsche 928 with the added luxury detailing only Bentley can offer.

Director of Whole Vehicle Engineering for the new Continental GT Cameron Paterson stated the development process with Porsche started early this decade and has been in the works for quite some time.

“The car itself is a four-year development process, but we started the platform work with Porsche a good year and a half before that,” said Paterson

While Porsche assumed the stewardship regarding the research & development of the MSB matrix, Bentley was involved in the brand-specific application R&D process.

It's the mode of VAG intracorporate cooperation procedures as also witnessed in the case of the Porsche/Audi KoVoMo (Konzern V-Ottomotoren) 2.9 V6 and 4.0 V8, which find applications in Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini (Urus) products.

Bentley's standard on refinement is higher than Porsche,so the MSB platform and the 8 speed PDK transmission from Porsche are specially tuned for Bentley.the work was co operated by the engineers form both sides.
The first drive report of Bentley CGT in Autocar talked about it in their article.

This is not much different than BMW and Alpina. The Porsche platform is prepared to be suitable for further use by other VAG brands, but these brands influence only for their specific items. I'm sure that no engineer from Bentley participated in the development of the Panamera and that's why I don't think it's corect to call the platform co-developed.

What are the Porsche engineered platforms? Panny and 911 right? And now the Taycan one too I guess.

i think its only the SUVs..
911, Cayman/Boxster, Taycan,Panamera is all porsche platforms.

Since i dont give a flying f about any SUV from any brand, thats fine by me.
I see SUVs as a means to income for the companys to make proper cars lol
