1 Series [Spyshots] BMW 1-Series Sedan

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
My biggest relief about this is BMW is calling it the "1 Series" instead of the 2 series gran coupe which I kept hearing @SCOTT27 call it. Was that name being thrown around Scott?

Usually the Chinese copy European cars....... Here, BMW copied Chinese cars...

This is what I think about it: an ugly disgrace!!

Actually, I would love BMW to make a "relatively cheap, small, 4 door, front wheel drive saloon" if it looked like this :

My problem is how the actual car looks like a Chinese copy of the Conecpt Sedan

If it can outdrive a Jetta GLI...then we're talking. Blah Blah BLah...FWD Heritage/Hypocrisy. Seriously? f#ck you...

They should have never gave us 1 series hatch or the 2er coupe - BMW showed us how good their compact vehicles can be -now we're supposed to live with these.

It's not just about the driven wheels - its about the engine placement, weight distribution, appearance, proportions and qualit. These factors have completely changed the car from a normal BMW

What a shitty pr work. Still nothing on the main press site, only on the chinese site and only four poor sd photos included. It's as if they want to keep this bastard a secret.

If BMW decide to sell it in the U.S, then it's going to be latest must have accessory in high school parking lots all over the country. Not to mention that the second hand car section of BMW dealers all over the USA will be full of Jettas that were traded by the 1-series sedan.

It's for China only, so really I don't see the point of putting it on the international website.

And it looks ugly and cheap, just keep it away from the international market please.

It's not on the Chinese Press site, it's not on the Chinese BMW site, and only gets a news mention on the Joint Venture website. It is on the popular Chinese social media channels, but I think it's been low-key, even in it's own domestic market. That and the original global press release having that terrible photoshop attached... it's a poor launch by any stretch.

Poor launch for a crappy BMW.

I'm OK with this.

Go hard or go home, if they're going to do it - which they are - they should do it properly. No point in developing a new car then not putting the effort in to launch it and sell it properly, China's bigger than the US for BMW... they're up against Audi and Mercedes in this important market and they don't want to be fumbling it.
