5 Series [Spyshots] BMW 5 Series F10 Facelift Spy Information

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.
No, they look the same as before:

It looks ok. Needs some getting used to again.

I don't agree that the grilles look the same, the vertical slats look shorter than before and the slats now have that shark nose side profile like the F30. The chrome trim is fatter too. I don't like it... but as you say I may just need time to get used to it.

*Also the slats have the 'kink' at the top (towards the hood) as with the 6er and Klier's favourite the F20:p

Edit: Nevertheless, great design just tuned to a better more 'harmonic tune'. Stunning car the F10, simply my favourite 4 door saloon (at least what I can afford;) )

You might be right, but I think it's an optical illusion because of the different sheetmetal..also, the vertical slats look shorter because they are, as Human already said, bent.
We'll see!!

Great facelift imo. freshens up the car, freshens up the look, and i do think that at least in pics, you can clearly tell the facelift is fresher, newer version. i don't know if they changed the headlights shape, it looks so much sharper, or less soft than the pre FL. I don't know if it's just the angle but the whole front looks lower, deliberate to make it more on terms with the F30 kinda lower stance, or maybe it's just an illusion. It just instantly looks so much sportier.

The current F10 still looks great on the streets though, nothing about it is obsolete (maybe after we see the FL we will find the pre FL obsolete), pre FL may look too soft and un-aggressive in pics but IRL it's still stunning, and the FL can only be better.

MB got to learn from this, the E class looks absolutely childish next to this. I'm sure pre FL 5er owners won't feel gutted even though they don't have the FL but for a MB E class owner, sorry while your car looks better, your manufacturer changed the design and made your car look like a predecessor model; but OK got to admit, BMW should learn from Benz for the 1 series, it needs a huge facelift. i still can't believe my eyes when i see the pic above, what an ugly car.

Side note i think they got more to update on the 6er, but how is the 6er selling worldwide? i have only seen like 2 in where i am, while 5series is dominating the streets.

Agreed, the lower bumper looks worse than before..
Yes, hopefully the M-Sport bumper looks better than that because I would never buy the SE anyway. The M-Sport F10 is one of the best looking saloons on the road, let's see what they do with that.

I think I figured out what I don't like about the facelift, the horizontal creases between the lights and grille, they make front look like a snout.

Klier-mate, I believe we have F30 trim lines in the works with the F10 FL. Thus as with the F30 between Modern, Luxury and Sportline + M-Sport the different bumpers will dictate taste. I for one are not a fan of the F30 Modern line bumper.

are the headlights different at all? they seem a little (or whether it's just an illusion) narrower and a bit more angular.

The F30 modern line looks better than F10 bumper. But I agree we might see the lines on the 5er too, with different bumpers for all lines....
Here's hoping this won't be the only bumper (next to the M sport one of course)!

They are the same. The graphics and different sheet metal around it create the illusion of something new.

Does anyone else think a car like the 5-Series is a bit to "grown up" for Lines? Their purpose is for personalisation, not something I imagine most 5er buyers are concerned about

The think about "Lines" is in fact about reducing costs of personalisation by proposing themed packages. It makes personalisation accessible. By BMW Individual you can make you own personalised "Lines" depending on how much you can spend.

Did they actually make it look worse?

In your opinion? OR in who's opinion? Most certainly not I M O, to which I as much as you and every other member on this GCforum and indeed on this planet is entitled to, through his/her God given right irrespective his/her gender, race or nationality.

I am truly free, LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY!

Well of course in my opinion..

Give me the old one with the headlights of the new one..
I think the bumper on the new one, along with the absence of the character lines running on each side of the nostrils of the old car.. is a mistake..
It takes away a lot of charechter imo.

^ Strange I disagree. I think LCI looks better, and it is surprising because there isn't really anything to improve.

@SCOTT27 we have been kept in the dark long enough now. will the F10 LCI have a MODERN LINE, SPORT LINE and we know it will have M Sport pack...so, will we have 3x different bumpers? Just that small amount of info please, so we can settle it and get on with it, please!?
