5 Series [Spyshots] BMW 5 Series F10 Facelift Spy Information

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

The change the tailgate of the 5 reminds me of an Audi rear, the way the lines are cut above the license plate.

I like the E refresh more.

Yea, no doubt the E facelift is way more drastic than this, like a plastic surgery vs new eye make up for the 5.

But that also sucks for the current E owners who will be now stuck with a car that will look more aged and probably take a bigger depreciation hit. You could already get a new E for almost 10 grand off (they offerred my sis in law 8k off with out any negotiation 2 months back), it is going to be even bigger now.

Because the car need a dramatic change.

It didn't 'need' a dramatic change. The E class was outselling the 5. I like how it's more aggressive and in your face. I like how everything flows. Don't get me wrong, the 5's front end is nice, but this new more in your face and move over I'm coming front end REALLY appeals to me. :)

True, my sister is going from a 650i to an E 'vert. I think she'll like the softer lines compared to the new version. Especially if they're giving those kind of deals.

The 5er does not really need a considerable exterior update as the car is still relatively modern. I would say the same for the E-Klasse as it loses its original distinctive appearance to appear like a larger C-Klasse.
As per the LCI cycle the changes are minimal on the outside and as per M models the M5 will remain untouched as to mess with the front of the car costs money and development time due to the alteration of aerodynamics which is why the current M3 and previous M3 models have not been extensively facelifted like the E92 and E46 respectively.

Worldwide both 5series and Audi A6 are selling better than E-class. Thats why the changes for 5-series are small.

So no LED lighting for the generation M5?

Mercedes felt the E needed to be redone to stay relevant, BMW felt the 5-Series is timeless enough to be relevant in its original form. M-B "legacy owners" get the shaft, and BMW "legacy owners" get treated with respect.

You guys can do the math.

So will you be offloading your E and buying a 6 series?

I wish! Love the E but ready to move on, and just don't feel the "magic" from M-B anymore. Who knows, maybe I'll feel the same by whatever car I get next after due time. Or maybe if everything's on the up and up and I ride the E till Lease end in over 15 months, and M-B has a W222 SWB for me and I like the design, M-B's magic will be luring me in once again.

I need a transferee for the E, which I've had a few, but it's a complicated process so by the time the ball starts rolling, someone backs out.

A 6er would be an ideal candidate for next car, but I wouldn't want to pay near MSRP. I guess we'll see. Not hating life driving the E or anything, but if someone bites, I'll let it go and start over again.

Mother of God, how can a car have such an ugly stance. The 3er GT seems to be even worse.

All the F10 needs is to sharpen things up a bit, done deal.
I don't know about the GT, not the best looker but hey it has the utility of a MPV yet it look no where as MPV as a MPV. It's pretty special, i see quite a lot of these where I live. Some owner really spice these things up and they look insanely hot, well, insanely hot for a car like this.
